First of all, thank you thank you THANK YOU for all of your kind words yesterday! I got so much positive feedback about the redesign that it made all of the work that went into it MORE than worth it. I’m so beyond excited that you guys like it! Yay yay yay!!
I’m also thrilled that you loved yesterday’s post as much as I did, because if you haven’t noticed… you’re in for Round 2 today! When I went in to Rent the Runway to find a dress, I honestly was only thinking about leaving with one… but as I tried on a bunch of different styles, my stylist Colin and I realized that it would be so much more fun to show two contrasting approaches to a black tie affair. (Shh… I may be featuring a 3rd at the actual event – stay tuned!) Even though I adore the sequin cocktail dress you saw yesterday, I fell in love with this one almost immediately. The one shoulder neckline, cutout and high slit make this far from ordinary – but it still feels classy and polished. Seriously, I think I gasped as soon as I zipped it up! As women, we tend to shy away from admitting when we feel beautiful or sexy… but doesn’t it feel SO GOOD when you unapologetically feel like a knock out?! ? It’s true! It feels pretty damn great – and that’s what this dress did for me. Had to shoot it. Had to.
As if the dress wasn’t special enough, Julie and I decided to take these photos on the steps of The Field Museum… where Snowball is taking place! And on that note, you might be asking yourself “Should I know what the Snowball is?!” Don’t worry, this is my first year going – but it sounds like an incredible event. Snowball is the Junior Council’s annual black tie gala, usually hosted at one of Chicago’s most iconic locations. The Junior Council has raised over $1,500,000, and with the support of about 2,300 attendees, they are hoping to donate over $200K this year to the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV & AIDS Programs at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Basically, it’s a big beautiful party that benefits a great cause. Count me in.
As for accessories, I decided to stick with a gold and black theme – mostly because of this amazing clutch by DVF! The whole thing is covered in sequins, so if you brush your hand one way, you’ll see more gold… but if you brush it the other way, you’ll see more black. Seriously, the coolest. I thought that paired perfectly with this bracelet by Elizabeth and James and these sparkly Alexis Bittar earrings. So glamorous, right?!
