Happy Tuesday! One of my goals for 2018 is to not just show you outfits I love and call it a day. Instead, I want to take a post about a purple sweater and use it as an opportunity to TALK to you. After all, we’re buddies, right?! 👯♀️
So for this one, I was thinking I’d talk about positive thinking or how to be productive, but after the 3rd time watching Oprah’s speech at the Golden Globes, I realized I wanted to talk about something else. Compassion.
2017 wasn’t very long ago… only 8 days ago, in fact! And one of the things that bothered me most about that whole year was the amount of hate and blame that was tossed around. As someone who whole heartedly believes in the power of kindness, the horrible words and disgusting comments and infuriating stories were almost too much to bear at times.
So with so much of 2018 still ahead of us, I think it’s important for every single person to check in with themselves. If your first instinct is to blame and criticize all the time… what if you chose to really listen to other people’s stories instead? What if we all chose to treat people, especially those who have been through so much, with a little bit more compassion?
And as someone with a platform, I promise to continue to talk about compassion for both others and yourself. It warmed my heart that my instagram post on Sunday about Time’s Up got almost 2,000 likes and tons of amazing comments/messages from other women who acknowledge the importance of that movement, and my favorite: women supporting women. I believe that these discussions do not have to be as polarizing as they became last year.
As Oprah said, a new day is on the horizon! And I hope it’s filled with lots of kindness… and coffee 😉
On a lighter note, I’ve been wearing this outfit non-stop recently. I get so bored of neutrals in the winter, so I was so excited when I found this purple sweater! Turns out my Mom knows me VERY well because she surprised me with the pink version without even knowing I bought it in purple 😂 But really, it’s the softest thing ever and I 10/10 recommend it. And it comes in 5 colors if you’re not a pink or purple gal!
Should I have kept this post topic focused on my purple sweater?
Or you do you like when I chat about real things that are on my mind? You can be honest – I’d love to know!
