Happy Friday, friends! I’m actually taking the day off today to explore in Washington D.C. and I am SO excited! A big thank you to all of you who commented with recommendations over on Instagram. Like I said there, I haven’t been since I was in middle school, so I am really pumped to see the sights and check out their restaurant scene (that sounds amazing according to you guys!).
But besides my trip, I am really excited for today’s post because it is a highly requested one! I’m going to be shooting a look that works for winter weddings/holiday parties next week, but instead of holding out for that post, I thought I’d get you started with a bunch of options that are available now. Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be when you have a great dress for a wedding, and then the forecast dips down to 20 degrees and there’s no way you can wear it anymore. Bare shoulders and bare legs? What is she THINKING?! We’ve all been there, right? 😂
So today I am highlighting three things I look for when picking out something for a winter event. And the best part is that these work for winter weddings, holiday parties, fundraisers, NYE celebrations – you name it!
I love that velvet dresses are trendy again this year because they feel really festive – and they’re WARM! Even if you don’t find a long sleeve one you like, the texture works really well with tights when the temps decide to drop. Here are a few of my favorites:
Jumpsuits are great for cold weather occasions. You don’t have to mess with tights, you can wear pretty much any pumps you own with them, and they are just so chic! I mean, right?! I personally love this one that I posted on Instagram, but here are some more faves:
Long Sleeve Dresses
And if you can’t find a velvet dress or jumpsuit that you like, I always tell people to find a dress with sleeves. No need for a cardigan or ‘wrap’ you’ll never wear again!
And even more options I love…
Are any of you going to a winter wedding this year?
Also, does this cover your shopping needs for holiday parties or are you looking for other kinds of dresses or outfit ideas for that? Feel free to leave a comment with any suggestions/guidance for me! I’d love to be as helpful as I can this holiday season!
