8 Things To Do In Kansas City (Besides Eat!)
Okay, I know it’s been a while since we chatted about Kansas City – but a Friday Roundup felt like the perfect time to chat about all the fun things we did there (besides eat)! This fun little city was barely even on my radar before this trip, but after exploring with Kit, Maya, Christina and our amazing Visit KC tour guides, I’m a total fan!
1. Stay at The Fontaine
We stayed at The Fontaine while we were visiting, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The decor is lovely, it’s steps away from tons of shopping at Country Club Plaza and the rooms were top notch. We had a jam packed schedule, so it was SO nice to come back to a super comfortable room (and bed!) each night!

2. Take a picture at the Kansas City Mural
Everyone loves a good photo-op, right?! This quick stop will definitely make it onto your Instagram feed ? (Also, my outfit details can be found in this post!)
3. Learn about letterpress at Hammerpress
Hammerpress is a really cool letterpress print shop and design studio in Kansas City. I’ve purchased their cards at stores in Chicago, so it was really cool to learn about how they make their letterpress designs right from the source. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re visiting!
4. Browse the City Market Farmer’s Market
As soon as we met our gracious hosts, I asked them which neighborhoods they live in and which ones they like best as locals. Turns out, River Market is one of the most desirable spots! It’s right near the river, there are a ton of cool shops and restaurants, and they have an AMAZING Farmer’s Market on the weekends!
5. Shop at River Market Antiques
While you’re in the neighborhood, you have to swing by River Market Antiques, too. This store is 30 THOUSAND square feet of amazing antiques – home goods, clothing, artwork, jewelry – you name it!
6. Tour Boulevard Brewing Company
This is going to sound really silly, but Boulevard Brewing Co. is the most aesthetically pleasing brewery I’ve ever been to. It’s true! All of their design/signage/labels/videos/decor are on brand, fun, and inviting. After the tour, they lead you to their tasting room where I fell in love with their Ginger Lemon Radler – the perfect refreshing beer for the non beer drinker ? We then made our way up to their bar for a second round, and it was clear that this is not only a brewery, but a favorite local bar. If it’s nice outside, sit on the balcony for a nice view of the city.
7. Go Shopping at Halls
Halls may seem like just a department store, but it is seriously such a gem! They are so proud to bring exciting designers to Kansas City… and as someone who has lived in both NYC and Chicago, I can confidently say that they have some amazing shopping in KC. For example, I snagged the cutest suede Vince mules on sale for only $75! Yes please!
8. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
We visited the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art on our very last morning and it completely blew me away. We had the most enthusiastic guide and I loved hearing the stories about how a small city like KC managed to acquire such amazing artwork for their residents. And the fact that this gorgeous museum is free to everyone makes it even more special. I could have spent the whole day there… it’s absolutely beautiful.
Have you ever been to Kansas City?
