A Day in the Life
When Special K contacted me about creating the video above, it was solely for Instagram. But as soon as Julie and I started shooting, I knew I wanted to share it on the blog, too.
So, insta = sponsored. This blog post = all me!
The main reason I wanted to write about it here is because I get a lot of questions about my schedule. Do you blog full time? What is your other job? How do you find time to work out? How do you have time to sleep?! ? All valid questions! So, I thought I’d take the video one step further and really talk about what my days look like during the week. It was too much to include ‘day in the office’ scenarios here, so this is my typical work from home situation:
7:00am
My alarm goes off at 7 almost every day. Occasionally, I’ll sign up for a 7am workout class, in which case I get up at 6:30am. And then there are other days when I press snooze until 7:45… I won’t lie, that happens!
8:15am
No matter what, I’m usually at my computer with a cup of coffee by 8:15am at the latest. Yes, the video is correct – I’m almost always in pajamas or sweatpants! I start by checking in to my email inboxes and creating/updating my To Do lists. I put everything on my list in a note on my computer (work/LSL/life), but only the really crucial deadlines go in my Simplified Planner at the beginning of the day. This definitely helps with my overwhelm and physically checking things off make me feel like I’m getting somewhere each day instead of drowning!
12:00pm
I rarely take a true lunch break, so 12pm is a great time to schedule a photoshoot, a Lake Shore Lady call/meeting, or a yoga class.
1:30pm
This is when I check in with my To-Do list again. Since I’m now contracted for 30 hours a week at my day job, I’ll take a look at how many hours I’ve logged so far. (Unless we’re gearing up for a big event – then that gets muddied a bit ?) If I’m close to my 30 hours, I’ll determine how much of the afternoon can be dedicated to Lake Shore Lady instead of Fusion that day. Sometimes it’s the whole afternoon, and sometimes it’s none of it!
5:30pm
If I haven’t gotten a workout yet, I love going to early evening classes at Flywheel (+ Flybarre!) or Corepower Yoga. And if I’ve already gotten it out of the way, it’s probably because I have an event or dinner plans to go to…
7:30pm
When I come back from a class, I’ll take a shower, make dinner, and usually get back to work on my Lake Shore Lady to-dos that I couldn’t get to earlier in the day. I’ve realized that I tend to write my best at night when emails are quiet!
If I’ve been out at an event, I usually get back later than 7:30pm, and depending on if I’ve had a drink or not, working might not be in the cards… yes, I’m a lightweight ?
And then there are the nights when I’m completely off duty! I try to do this a few times a week, because I know that I’m on my way to a breakdown if I don’t (true story). It’s important to decompress every now and then, and after this June’s craziness especially, I’m really serious about incorporating some balance into my weeks – instead of just working myself into the ground! A home cooked meal and Netflix with Adam is my favorite weeknight lineup.
10:30pm
Bedtime! Yes, some nights 10:30 is a very ambitious time and I’m crawling into bed much later. But as a general rule, I like to try to shut my computer and get in bed around 10:30. I usually put Friends, Parks & Rec or The Office on as I fall asleep… while I plan the next day’s instagram promotions based on what’s on the blog and/or whats going on in my life.
…and then I do it all over again! What does your “day in the life” look like?!

I love this type of post. I was wondering if you had a day job along with the blog. You’ve got a lot on your plate!

Very cute video Lauren!! I love your day in the life post and I’m really jealous that you are working 30 hours at your full time job! But I can’t image working from, that seems so hard to me!! Hope you are doing well!
