One of the trickiest parts of dealing with winter is the toll it takes on our skin. I know I’m not the only one who struggles with dry skin when the temps drop, because whenever I mention it on Instagram, I get TONS of DMs commiserating with me and asking for recommendations 😂Us Midwestern gals have to stick together, right?!
While I love a few different brands for a few different reasons, I want to specifically talk about Advanced Clinicals today because it is, in my opinion, the best affordable winter skincare brand that I’ve tried. I first discovered them a few years ago when they sent me a press package, and I wrote a post all about them last year. But after using their products through the rest of last winter and on the super cold days this year, I’ve figured out which products I reach for the most!
What is Advanced Clinicals?
Before we dive into my favorite products, let’s quickly chat about the brand! Advanced Clinicals is a problem-solving skincare line developed with high quality ingredients by chemists – and it’s manufactured right here in Chicago! Their mission is to bring effective skin care solutions to customers at attainable prices. What does that mean? Well, in a world where most skincare is at least over $50, all Advanced Clinicals products retail for under $20! Yup, BELIEVE IT!
If you’re interested in trying any of these products, or if you want to get any as a last minute gift, use the code LAUREN30 for 30% off your order! (Valid until 1/15/20) Now, let’s dive in!
My Favorite Advanced Clinicals Products for Winter Skin
Tea Tree Oil – $12.95
If you buy ONE Advanced Clincals product, it should be their tea tree oil. This oil is straight up magic if you have a breakout or severe dry patches on your skin. The blend of Tea Tree Oil, Vitamin E, Witch Hazel and Sunflower Extract is really hydrating, but also really calming. I’ve found this to be most useful when a pimple is healing. It helps reduce the inflammation, heal any cracked skin around it, and prevent any scaring or lingering bumps/redness. This is one of those skincare products that will ALWAYS be in my cabinet. It’s honestly amazing.
While I don’t necessarily need to use the Tea Tree Oil every day, I’ll spray this mist on my face any day I want an extra boost of hydration. Like the oil, it also helps calm blemishes thanks to Terpinen-4-ol and Azelaic Acid. I like to spray this on after I get out of the shower, especially in the winter.
Tea Tree Clarifying Gel Mask – $12.95
Before we move on from the wonders of Tea Tree Oil, I have to mention this new Tea Tree Gel Mask, too. Similarly to the oil and mist, this mask also helps soothe and calm irritated skin. In addition, the Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Calendula, Witch Hazel, and Honey in it helps increase the moisture in your skin, too. This is obviously great in the winter, but also if you are on acne medication that dries your skin out. You can use this as a quick treatment (leave on for 30 minutes and rinse off), but I like to keep it on overnight.
While I only really use the Tea Tree Mask when my skin is healing, I like this Rosewater Mask any time. Along with rosewater, this one has Vitamin E, Ginger, Blackberry, Green Tea, and Pomegranate extracts and it smells LOVELY. It feels different than some of the other overnight masks I love since it’s a gel instead of a lotion or cream, but I really like it! It’s super hydrating and my skin always feels really smooth after using it.
This is our go-to body lotion! I’ve been using this one for years and it’s the best. Hemp Seed Oil is really rich in essential fatty acids like Omegas 3, 6, and 9 and helps restore hydration to your dry skin. It also has Rosehip, Coconut, and Evening Primrose Oils, plus Shea Butter and Vitamin E which have anti-aging properties. But above all that, $15 for 16oz of super hydrating and high quality lotion? You literally can’t beat that!
Hemp Seed Instant Hydration Body Oil – $12.95
If you find yourself needing something stronger than lotion (think negative degrees outside), body oils are where it’s AT. I’ll be honest, I used to use their Collagen Lifting Body Oil before trying this Hemp Seed Body Oil, and I can’t really tell the difference… but does it matter if both help hydrate your ridiculously dry skin? I also love that both oils absorb really quickly, so you don’t have to worry about staining your clothes or shivering as it absorbs 😂
Cica Serum – $15.00
I just started using this serum about a month ago, and I’m already hooked. I’ll admit that, for me, it’s worth it to splurge on my favorite retinoid serum by a different brand, but I don’t like to use it every single night since it’s a high dose. To compliment that, I use this Cica Serum on my “nights off”. Cica has been used for centuries to fight the signs of aging, and Advanced Clinicals combined it with herbal extracts to improve elasticity, smooth your skin, and firm facial features. I also like that it’s not drying at all!
This serum was one of my first AC products! While it’s very hydrating, I’ve been reaching more for my masks or the Cica Serum recently instead. I wanted to still include this here though in case the texture of the gel masks aren’t for you!
This lightweight spray combines collagen and rosewater to give you a fresh, youthful glow. The main reason I reach for this one is because it smells like heaven though!
I’ve always been a little afraid of peel-off masks, but this one isn’t scary at all. It has Cica, Rose, and Vitamin E in it to help remove impurities, but it also has Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid to soften and hydrate your skin. I don’t use this all the time, but I like having it in my rotation!
Where To Buy Advanced Clinicals Products:
There are a few places to get Advanced Clinicals, but if you buy it straight from their website, you can use my code LAUREN30 for 30% off your entire order. You can also find their products on Amazon and at Walmart and Bed Bath & Beyond!
Is Advanced Clinicals Cruelty Free?
Yes! None of their products are tested on animals.
Which products would you recommend most for gifts?
If you know they love skincare but aren’t sure about their specific skincare needs, I would get them the Tea Tree Mask and Rosewater Mask – both are really gentle and hydrating which makes them great for different skin types. They also have a special gift set of 4 masks called the Power Quad for only $19.99! I haven’t tried those masks, but they sound super promising!
