Happy Thursday, friends! Remember when I used to post videos regularly here? Haha honestly, most of you probably don’t – it was so long ago! Which is why I’m so pumped that there have been 2 in one month (you can watch the other one here)!
For this one, I really wanted to feature a smoothie… but I majorly got in my head about it. What can I do that’s different from everyone else? How can I make the color look REALLY pretty? Should I add some weird unique ingredient?
And then I remembered that you guys always love to see the things I actually eat/use/wear on a regular basis – even more than some crazy smoothie full of expensive potions. So friends, you can make this Antioxidant Smoothie with ingredients you probably already have on hand – and if you don’t, they’re very easy to get. And here’s why I love each one!
Bananas have a ton of potassium, plus they make smoothies really creamy (and cold) when you freeze them before adding them in.
Blueberries aren’t just delicious – they have Vitamin C, Vitamin K, fiber, and a ton of antioxidants!
Did you know that prunes actually have MORE antioxidants per serving than blueberries do? I didn’t either! A whole post is coming about this superfood, but for now, just know that they help with digestion (high in fiber) and are a great natural sweetener because they’re low on the glycemic index.
Get yo greens in the morning! Spinach is extremely dense in nutrients, but when you blend it with other ingredients, it doesn’t have a strong flavor at all. Definitely my favorite way to bulk up the health factor in smoothies.
Almond butter is a great way to add some extra protein to your smoothies. I personally don’t love protein powders, so I prefer getting it this way. My current favorite is by RXBar – SO GOOD. (I am anxiously awaiting jars instead of packets – hopefully they’re coming soon!)
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
This is a great way to even more protein, but collagen has a ton of other health benefits, too! Read all about collagen and Vital Proteins in this post.
I’ve been using almond milk in my smoothies for years. I’ve never thought to switch because I like the taste and I love that it’s low in calories and sugar! (Just look for unsweetened.)
What are your favorite smoothie recipes?
Do you ever use any of these ingredients? Or do you have a similar antioxidant smoothie? Tell me all your smoothie secrets!
