April Fitness Recap (+ 2019 Workout Planner)
Well, after completing 20/21 workouts each month in January, February, and March (aka 62 workouts in the 3 months combined!), I finally fell off my groove. It’s happened before and it will happen again – and guess what?
THE WORLD DIDN’T END!
You’d think I only like to write these workout recaps when I’m crushing my goals and feeling amazing – but I’m glad I started this series for months like this, too. Why? Well, haven’t we all had months when it’s really hard to do it all?
We started the month of April in Barcelona and Lisbon, and working out wasn’t even on my mind. I’d much rather walk everywhere/see everything when I’m traveling vs. spending time in a gym or doing a workout video inside. How often do you get to see the world?!
Then we got back, and I had a ton of work to catch up on. I can’t complain – it’s been a great month for LSL and I’m really proud of the work I’ve been doing. Sometimes that has to take priority!
And if that wasn’t enough, we got an 11 week old puppy last week! She’s adorable, but requires a lot of attention, so sneaking off to the gym every day on her first week just wasn’t an option.
Some people might say that I didn’t “want it enough” this month, but the truth is, other things were more important. And at the end of the day, you are more than your physical appearance. Instead of getting down on myself for only completing 11 workouts this month, I’m grateful we got to see a new part of the world, proud of my business accomplishments, and so excited that we got a puppy!
Moral of the story: if you had a crazy month and workouts took a backseat, don’t beat yourself up. Just pull out your 2019 Workout & Wellness Planner and try to make May a better month. Even if you just schedule one or two more workouts than April – or write something nice about yourself in the reflections section! Remember, your wellness journey isn’t only about fitness.
April Goals
My goal for April was to reconnect with everything I like about my fitness routine, including how it makes me feel, instead of just how it makes me look. It’s funny that I ended up doing that – but because I was working out less instead of more.
April Obstacles
As I mentioned above: Barcelona and Lisbon, catching up on work, lots of great LSL projects, and getting a puppy! I don’t think I need more reasons than that, right?! ?

I completed 11 workouts this month – but I did walk a ton, too!
Lincoln Square Athletic Club
I didn’t really go enough to get my money’s worth this month, but I still love this neighborhood gym. The cardio/weights area is my home base there, but I also made it do their Bodypump class again and I’m SUCH a fan. You use an adjustable barbell for most of the class, adding and removing weight on the sides depending on the exercises/muscle group. If you belong to a Chicago Athletic Club, look for it on the schedule!
Studio Three
I was on a major 3×3 kick the past few months, but I made it to 3×3, Hi Def, and Hot Power Yoga in April! Yay for switching it up! For those of you who have never been, you can read about 3×3 in this post, Hi Def in this post, and well, you can probably guess what their Hot Power Yoga is like š
PS. I have a code to get your first class at Studio Three for free, but I canāt post it here! Just DM me on Instagram if youād like it!
Club Pilates
I’ve switched it up here a bit, too! I was all about their Level 2 Flow class for a while, but now I’m loving Linda’s Cardio Sculpt 1.5. I use two 5 lb weights and one 8 lb weight, and class FLIES by. It’s a great alternative for people who think normal pilates classes feel really slow.
At Home Workouts
At home workouts are my secret weapon when life gets busy, and Froyo To Fitness is my #1 go-to. I do her circuits at the gym all the time, but there are a lot that also work at home really well. Her HIIT/Arms workout for Week 12 is my favorite for days that I don’t have a ton of time, because it still gets your heart rate up.
I also downloaded my friend Blair’s new workout guide, and I loved her booty workout! It’s a great quick circuit for a busy day – and it’s free!

May Goals
Hopefully Luna gets the hang of training more this month, so I can be a little bit more rested and feel more comfortable leaving her to go to the gym. It’s also so invigorating to watch everything bloom in Chicago in May, so I’m hoping that inspires me to get moving, too!
I’ve also been saying that I want to reconnect with nutrition more, and I’m finally doing it. My downfall is snacking, but there’s not much time to snack when you’re training a curious puppy! You have to eat your meals, make sure they’ll keep you full for a while, and then put all food out of reach for her sake. Turns out, that reason to plan ahead and be disciplined has been really helpful for me. I want to keep these good habits going in May!
