10 Easy Breezy Maxi Dresses for Petites
Happy Thursday! The sun should be coming out today, it’s almost the weekend, and last night was my little “book club” with Emily Belden! We wanted to keep it small so we could actually sit down and dive in to discussions about her book, Hot Mess – and I’m so glad we did it that way. It was so great to see Emily again, and I couldn’t help but feel super proud as my readers arrived and told her that they read the book because I told them about it! How cool is that?! (PS. If you haven’t read it yet, order it NOW! It’s the PERFECT beach read!)
But moving on… today’s post is covering something I get asked about a lot. Where should I look for petite friendly maxi dresses? Most of you know that I’m a shrimp, so I’m not surprised I get asked about this topic, but (as much as I wish there was), there isn’t one magical and perfect place for petite maxi dresses! As I said in this post about how to shop for maxi dresses when you’re petite, there are more options than you might think. First of all, shop in the petite section when you can. Asos, Loft, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and Nordstrom all carry petite clothing – and that will always be the best place to start.
That being said, those stores don’t always have what you’re looking for. I certainly get that! So my favorite trick? Look for ankle length maxi dresses. I swear, if it hits the model right at the ankle, and you are close to 5’2″ (like me), it’ll be floor length on you! Why do you think I love this maxi so much?! Because I stepped right into it without needing to shorten it at ALL. Such a petite win!

But the best part about this way of shopping is that it doesn’t exclude you gorgeous tall ladies either. Midi lengths and styles that hit at the ankles are super trendy right now. Both you and I could rock the same exact dress – they’ll just hit us in slightly different places. Nothing wrong with that!
