OMG YOU GUYS! Do you notice anything different about LSL today?! Eeeep!
I am so thrilled to give you a very warm welcome to the new and improved Lake Shore Lady!! This has been in the works for longer than I care to admit… but work + creating new content + transferring to WP + designing a new site?! That’s too much! So, I finally admitted that I needed help, found a wonderful gal who could make it happen and BOOM, it’s HERE!!!
I’d love it if you took some time to peek around! Not only is the new navigation SO much better, but now there is a Recipe Index AND Outfit Index. You can also easily scroll through my other lifestyle categories now, too. Into Wellness/Fitness posts? Here they are! Like it when I get more personal? Read more here. Day dreaming about getting out of Chicago? Travel section, baby.
I really really hope you like what we’ve put together – and I hope it helps you find the content that resonates best with YOU! In the very least, I hope it helps you figure out what to make for dinner 😉
In addition to the new site, you’ll also notice I’m wearing an oh-so-pretty sequin dress. We obviously have to talk about that, too!
If you watch my Instagram, you probably saw that I did an Insta-story takeover for Rent the Runway last Friday while I was searching for a dress for The Junior Council’s Annual Snowball. I was obviously more than happy to oblige – what’s more fun than trying on tons of gorgeous gowns?! Luckily, I found TWO different dresses that are perfect for this black tie optional occasion. You’ll see my 2nd pick here on the blog tomorrow, along with some more information about the Snowball. Stay tuned!
So… even though long dresses are more traditionally worn to “black tie” events, I fell in love with this shorter option. I’m petite, so even some of Rent the Runway’s shortened gowns were a little long on me. This one eliminates any chance of tripping, but it’s still elegant and elevated enough for a fancy evening. And I’ll even admit that not all sequin dresses have made me feel as classy as this one did. Pair with nude sandals or pumps, minimal jewelry, and some killer hair and makeup. Just right. I didn’t want to take it off!
And speaking of hair and makeup, my lovely friend Jenna from Dennis Bartolomei Salon worked her magic on me. I’ve admired her makeup work on other people, but this was the first time she’s ever done mine. If you’re someone who is scared of what other people might do to your face, Jenna is the gal you need. Unless you’re requesting something super specific, she’s all about enhancing your natural features and making you feel pretty, while still letting you feel like YOU – just you on a REALLY good day 😉
And as for hair, I’m at the point now where I trust anyone at that salon with my color, cut, style, whatever. Jenna has been cutting/coloring my hair for a while now and she’s incredibly collaborative and encouraging. This look was all about soft waves and a little volume around the crown of my head. Oh, and that little sweep up on the side! Love that touch – that was all Jenna!
