Need new beach/pool gear? Shop towels, sunscreen & more!
I actually got a request for a roundup about beach/pool gear back at the end of May, but since Chicago didn’t feel like Summer, I kept putting it on the back burner. Despite the fact that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is going to have all of us shopping for Fall at the end of this week, it’s WARM out now! Which means I’m probably not the only one thinking about refreshing our towels, beach bags, sunscreen, cover ups and more!
But before we dive into those accessories, can we talk quickly about this swimsuit?! I know I mentioned it in this try-on blog post, and I’ve shown it to my Instagram fam a few times – but the hype is REAL. I sized up to a medium and even though I’m not sure I needed to, I love that I can adjust how tight the waist is because it’s a wrap! My sister and a few of you have bought it so far and it looks good on everyone. Plus, it’s only $35! No. Brainer.
Beach Gear
Towels and Totes
I got a few Vera Bradley towels a couple of years ago and they’re still in amazing shape, so I personally haven’t purchased new towels in a while. They’re really soft, but if the patterns are too much for you, there are some really cute ones at Nordstrom and Target, too!
And as for totes, I honestly don’t have a go-to beach bag! I don’t get to the beach or a pool all that often, so I haven’t really felt the need to get one… but if I did, I’d totally go for this transparent waterproof one or this straw tote that’s only $33! Here are a few more cute towels and totes:
Sunscreen and Coverups
We tend to have a few sunscreens in our house over the summer because I don’t burn easily, but Adam… does ? Right now, we have Hawaiian Tropic and Alba Botanica. Both are really affordable, come in a wide range of SPF options, and have both spray and lotion options too. I also use either Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue with SPF 30 in it or Colorescience Brush-On Sunscreen on my face. (Although I just got this foundation to try and has SPF 15 in it!) I also hear Beautycounter’s sunscreens are a really great clean option – and I’m super curious about Supergoop’s Setting Mist with SPF 50, too!
As for coverups, I usually just wear shorts or a cotton dress from my closet, but Amazon has SO many that are way cuter than that! How adorable would this white coverup be for a bride at a bachelorette party?! Might need to add to my cart…
Hats
I’m not a big hat girl – the one I wear in the sun was purchased for me by Adam before our trip to Mexico for my 30th birthday. I don’t even remember where he found it! But if you love a good hat, Nordstrom and American Eagle have a ton of great options this year. Here are a few cute (and affordable!) ones!
