Where to Eat in Kansas City
If you follow me on social media, you probably saw that I went to Kansas City a few weeks ago with Maya, Kit and Christina. It was my first time there and Visit KC really pulled out all the stops for us. We had two amazing tour guides who showed us all the best spots – including the best places to eat! So, if you’re planning a trip, or find yourself in Kansas City for work or a wedding, here’s where to dine!
1. Ça Va
The first night we were in town, we started the evening with drinks at Ça Va. They have the cutest little patio, a huge wine/bubbly list, and classic appetizers like oysters, truffle fries and an awesome cheese board. Plus their hashtag is #ChampagneForThePeople, so obviously I loved this place ?
2. Bluestem
Bluestem is where you go for fine dining in Kansas City. This prestigious restaurant has been named a James Beard Semifinalist for “Outstanding Restaurant” in 2015, 2016 and 2017 – and with good reason! We had an incredible 5 course dinner complete with wine pairings, and each course was better than the last. Highly highly recommend, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion!
3. Port Fonda
You guys know I love brunch and if I lived in KC, I would go to Port Fonda all the time. It’s a mexican restaurant so they’re best known for their chimichangas, which I didn’t have because it had beef in it (boo!). But if that was half as good as the chilaquiles I had, I believe the hype! We also taste tested their Green Tomatillo Bloody Mary, doughnuts, guac and salsas. I hear their tacos and margs are amazing, too!
4. Monarch Coffee
From the moment we landed, we kept hearing about how cute Monarch Coffee is… and holy moly, it’s like instagram heaven in there! The wallpaper, the tile floor, the chandeliers, the intricate ceiling – it’s all perfectly designed and absolutely beautiful. Go to grab an iced latte and a scone, but stay to snap a gram ?
5. Extra Virgin
Mediterranean inspired tapas? Sign me UP! Extra Virgin is a restaurant that makes you want to order everything on the menu. We all shared ceviche tacos, tomato and peach salad, ricotta and grilled rosemary bread, fresh pasta and so much more! Also, the whole vibe is very hip – perfect for a night out with your girlfriends.
6. t.Loft
By the time we got to Sunday morning, I was craving something healthy. As soon as we walked into t.Loft, I saw a photo of their green juice and knew we were in the right spot. Their Warrior Juice is a combo of kale, cucumber, pineapple, ginger, lemon and cayenne, and it was exactly what I needed! Add a breakfast bowl and a protein bite and I was a very happy girl.
Notable mention: Corvino Supper Club
We went to Corvino after Extra Virgin, so I wasn’t hungry at all… but I did have TWO of their Aperol Spritz cocktails. It was served over crushed ice (yes, like a snowcone) and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. So. Good.
Have you ever been to Kansas City?
What are your favorite restaurants there?
