It’s impossible to deny that straight leg jeans are the new “it” jean right now. I don’t like saying that skinny jeans aren’t cool anymore because I’ll always keep a pair in my closet – but I do think that denim trends are leaving that silhouette behind. At least for the time being.
There’s something really effortless about the relaxed straight leg silhouette, and I love that you can make them super casual or dress them up.
The only issue? Finding trendy jeans for petite women can be tricky. I am 5’2″ and there are few things I hate more than spending money on a nice pair of jeans, and then spending MORE money to get them hemmed. And cutting them myself scares me if they’re pricey.
Luckily, there’s a wide assortment of jeans that come in petite sizing, ankle lengths, and shorter petite-friendly inseams!
If you’re looking for petite-friendly options vs. petite-specific sizing, I recommend checking the inseams. While not all listings have them (or if they do, they might not be 100% accurate), I’ve learned that any inseam between 24-26.5 inches is worth a shot for me. I am usually a 26 in jeans with a lot of stretch and 27 in more rigid jeans. I hope this post is helpful for you!

1. Abercrombie Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jean
I loooove these jeans! The ultra high rise is very flattering and I got the short length for a perfect cropped length on me. I also love that they aren’t too wide at the bottom which makes them work with tons of different shoes from sandals to heels to sneakers. And you can sit comfortably in them! There’s just the right amount of stretch to make them comfortable for all day wear. I got a size 27 short in the medium wash. 10/10.

2. Abercrombie Curve Love High Rise Loose Jeans
I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of jeans that I can wear with heels but I don’t always love wide leg or flare jeans on me. Turns out this loose pair is exactly what I needed! I tried on the regular version in a size 27 in store and didn’t love the fit… but then I realized they have it in curve love sizing so I ordered those in a size 28 (curve love has a smaller waist and bigger hips!) and I LOVE them. They’re just the right amount of slouchy but still make me feel put together – and the regular length is perfect with a 3″ heel.

3. MOTHER Dazzler Ankle Length Jeans
Okay I know these jeans are a splurge but I am in LOVE. As you can tell in this post, I love a structured jean – but sometimes you just want a soft pair that stretch easily and feel comfortable even when sitting… and that’s what these are. They’re also the perfect dark wash for both day and night wear, and they’re a straight without being too wide. Think of them as a gateway if you’re having trouble saying goodbye to your skinny jeans ;)
They’re a little long on me so I will probably get them shortened so they’re a better length with sneakers, but for the quality, comfort and wash, I kept them. I got a size 27 and they’re literally the most comfortable jeans I own. Apparently MOTHER also has petite jeans now, so I might need to try those too!

4. Madewell Petite Perfect Vintage Jeans
I love these jeans so much, I own them in both this wash and a black wash! This is another pair that isn’t that much different from skinny jeans – they’re just a little wider at the ankle, that’s all! This style comes in petite, standard, tall and plus. I am usually between a 26 and 27 and I have this wash in a 27 petite and the black wash in a 26 petite.

5. Everlane Original Cheeky Jeans
As you guys know, I’m a big fan of Everlane’s jeans. They are reliably high quality, and always under $100. Their original cheeky jean has been a favorite straight leg jean of mine for years. I’m usually between a 26 and 27 and went with the 26 on these… they’re a little snug on me now but I can still wiggle into them. If you’re petite, just be sure to get the 26.5″ inseam instead of the 2 longer ones.

6. Levi’s Ribcage Jeans
Right off the bat, it’s nice that these jeans are barely over $100. They are definitely a stiffer denim than the previous two, and a 27 in these fit a little tighter. That being said, I love the super high waist and the 27″ inseam doesn’t feel long on me at all.
