Read my thoughts on the 6 best straight leg jeans for petites!
It’s impossible to deny that straight leg jeans are the new “it” jean right now. I refuse to say that skinny jeans aren’t cool anymore because they’ll always be a staple in my wardrobe – but I’m also really into the straight leg trend. There’s something really effortless about the relaxed silhouette, and I love that you can make them super casual or dress them up.
The only issue? Most popular pairs right now are way too long for petites. I am 5’2″ and there are few things I hate more than spending money on a nice pair of jeans, and then spending MORE money to get them hemmed! And cutting them myself scares me if they’re pricey. Luckily, my first pairs of straight leg jeans came in petite sizing (#6) and ankle length (#5 )… but I really wanted a killer pair of designer denim.
So I started shopping for the best straight leg jeans for petites. This means that I paid close attention to the inseam lengths listed in product descriptions. While they aren’t always 100% accurate, I’ve learned that any inseam between 24-26.5 inches is worth a shot for me. I ended up ordering 4 pairs to test out that you can see in action in this reel. I wore this top and these shoes with each one so the jeans were the main focus and I am usually a 26 in jeans with a lot of stretch and 27 in more rigid jeans. I hope this post is helpful for you!
6 Best Straight Leg Jeans for Petites
I’ve been hearing about these jeans from other petite ladies for a while now and I always resisted because of the price… but WOWZA they live up to the hype. According to Shopbop, it has a 24″ inseam while Nordstrom says 26″… but it doesn’t really matter because it’s a GREAT length on me. The wash I got is called “The Confession” and I got a size 27.
I’m so glad I decided to overlook the price and treat myself to these because I really think they’re the best straight leg jeans for petites if you’re looking for something casual that you can wear all the time. I already know that I’m going to get SO much use out of them! [Shop more MOTHER denim here!]
These relaxed jeans were my 2nd favorite pair that I ordered. The denim is sooo nice, a size 27 fit great, and the length was pretty good at 26.75″. That being said, the reason I’m returning them is because I think the holes on this wash sit just a little bit too low in my legs. If you are taller or just have longer legs than I do (proportions make a difference!) then I’d still try them! [Shop more Citizens of Humanity denim here!]
Right off the bat, it’s nice that these jeans are under $100. They are definitely a stiffer denim than the previous two, and a 27 in these fit a little tighter. That being said, the placement of the knee rip is magically excellent, and the 25.5″ inseam is great! If you prefer a more rigid denim and you’re on a budget, this is a great buy.
I was skeptical of these after their shorts that everyone loves didn’t live up to the hype for me… and honestly I just don’t think this brand is for me. I got the Riley crops in the ‘Frequency’ wash and while the denim is really nice and feels high quality, they’re snug around my thighs. I’m still including them here because they look SO GOOD on so many other people, though! And the 25.25″ inseam is ideal for petites! I also liked the way my butt looked in them too, so that’s gotta count for something 😉 [Shop more AGOLDE denim here!]
As you guys know, I’m a big fan of Everlane’s jeans. They are reliably high quality, and always under $100. The curvy cheeky jean is my favorite straight leg style of theirs that I’ve tried. I got a size 26 ankle, and they were a little snug at first, but they stretch with wear. If you’re petite, just be sure to get the ankle length and not the regular length. That way, you’ll get an inseam of 26.5″!
I got these jeans last year, so my exact wash isn’t available anymore – but this one looks super similar! There are a few other washes in the “petite perfect vintage” style that you can browse on their site, too. They’re really comfortable jeans and I love that the inseam is 25.5″ when you order petite. My only suggestion is to read reviews on each particular wash before purchasing, because their sizing can be a little crazy. For example, I got a 25 petite… and I am NEVER a 25!
