6 Best Straight Leg Jeans for Petites
Read my thoughts on the 6 best straight leg jeans for petites!
It’s impossible to deny that straight leg jeans are the new “it” jean right now. I refuse to say that skinny jeans aren’t cool anymore because I’ll always keep a pair in my closet – but I’m also really into the straight leg trend.
There’s something really effortless about the relaxed silhouette, and I love that you can make them super casual or dress them up.
The only issue? Most popular pairs right now are way too long for petites. I am 5’2″ and there are few things I hate more than spending money on a nice pair of jeans, and then spending MORE money to get them hemmed! And cutting them myself scares me if they’re pricey.
Luckily, there’s a wide assortment of jeans that come in petite sizing, ankle lengths, and shorter petite-friendly inseams!
If you’re looking for petite-friendly options vs. petite-specific sizing, I recommend checking the inseams. While they aren’t always 100% accurate, I’ve learned that any inseam between 24-26.5 inches is worth a shot for me. I am usually a 26 in jeans with a lot of stretch and 27 in more rigid jeans. I hope this post is helpful for you!
6 Best Straight Leg Jeans for Petites
1. Madewell ’90s Straight Jean
Madewell is one of my go-to stores for petite jeans because I don’t have to worry about inseam lengths at all – I can just buy the petite sizing! This pair is a great classic straight leg style that can be dressed up or down.
They have a little bit of stretch to be super comfortable, but they still have some structure to them. I got them in a petite size 27 and they fit perfectly. A little relaxed without gapping at the waist. Ideal!
I’m wearing these jeans with this tee – runs true to size! I’ll save this try on to my highlights on Instagram too 🙂

2. Madewell Baggy Jeans
I almost didn’t try these baggy jeans because of the name, but I’m so glad I did! They’re really similar to the other straight leg jeans for petites in this post – just slightly slouchier through the leg. I got a size 27 petite and they fit great. I love the high waist and that it’s fitted in the bum, so even though they’re super comfy, your butt still looks good 😉
This style also comes in violet, sage, yellow and ochre if you like color, too!

3. Everlane Original Cheeky Jeans
As you guys know, I’m a big fan of Everlane’s jeans. They are reliably high quality, and always under $100. The original cheeky jean is my favorite straight leg style of theirs that I’ve tried. I’m usually between a 26 and 27 and went with the 26 on these. If you’re petite, just be sure to get the 26.5″ inseam instead of the 2 longer ones.

4. Madewell Perfect Vintage Wide Leg Jean
Okay I know this post is about straight leg and these jeans are called wide leg – but stick with me. Since I’m only 5’2″, I usually stay away from wide leg jeans because I feel like they make me look shorter and wider. But I ordered these in a regular size 26 instead of petite and I actually LOVE them.
They only fit a little wider than a straight leg jean and the length is perfect with a low heel or platform sneakers. I’m a big fan! (Also wearing with this tank and these sunglasses!)

5. MOTHER Superior The Tomcat Jeans
I had been hearing about this brand from other petite ladies for a while and I always resisted because of the price… but WOWZA they live up to the hype. The exact pair I have is old but these jeans look very similar and the wash has the same name (The Confession) – I just can’t find an inseam listed anywhere.
I got a size 27 and they fit perfectly. I’m so glad I decided to overlook the price and treat myself to these because I really think they’re the best straight leg jeans for petites if you’re looking for something casual that you can wear all the time. Update: I wear them ALL THE TIME. So worth it for me!

6. Madewell Petite Perfect Vintage Jeans
These are absolutely my new favorite jeans. I’ve noticed that most of you in my question box or DMs are really fearful of straight leg jeans but these really aren’t THAT much different from skinny jeans – they’re just a little wider at the ankle, that’s all! This style comes in petite, standard, tall and plus. I am usually between a 26 and 27 and I went with a 26 petite. They really are perfect!

Honorable Mentions
Levi’s Ribcage Jeans
Right off the bat, it’s nice that these jeans are barely over $100. They are definitely a stiffer denim than the previous two, and a 27 in these fit a little tighter. That being said, I love the super high waist and the 27″ inseam doesn’t feel long on me at all. If this pair is too light for you, you can shop their other washes here!
AGOLDE Riley Crop Jeans
I was skeptical of these after their shorts that everyone loves didn’t live up to the hype for me… and honestly I just don’t think this brand is for me. I got the Riley crops in the ‘Frequency’ wash and while the denim is really nice and feels high quality, they’re snug around my thighs.
I’m still including them here because they look SO GOOD on so many other people, though! And the 25.25″ inseam is ideal for petites! I also liked the way my butt looked in them too, so that’s gotta count for something 😉
