My Billie Razor Review
Curious if the social media hype is real? Here’s my Billie Razor review!
*This post was sponsored by Billie. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that make Lake Shore Lady possible!
If you are on Instagram, it’s likely that you’ve heard about the Billie razor. Their branding and general aesthetics are lovely, their ads are everywhere, and tons of your favorite bloggers have talked about it. And every time you see it, I’m sure you wonder if it’s just another overhyped Instagram thing, right? I definitely did! But then I caved and gave it a try… and after only a few uses, all I could think was, “why did I resist this?“
For a little backstory, I am Italian, which means I have to shave pretty much every day. I’m not one of those gals who can go all week without ever picking up the razor. It’s pretty much always a part of my shower routine… and yet, I’ve never actually liked a razor before. They’ve all been fine – it’s just a razor, right? But there are a few things about the Billie Razor that really sets it apart…
My Billie Razor Review:
The Price:
The starter kit with the Billie handle, 2 cartridges, and magnetic holder is $9. Then, when you need refills, those cost another $9 for 4 cartridges. When I think about the fact that I used to pay $20 for a 4 pack of mediocre refills, this is WAY better! The pink tax is real, and I love that Billie is fighting against it and giving us a really great deal. I mean $2.25 per cartridge? Yes, please!
The recurring shipments:
I will be the first to admit that I am not good at remember to replace things… especially my razor. Maybe I’ll think about it in the shower – but then I’ll forget when I’m at the store, and let it go another 1, 2, 7 weeks. But Billie allows you to set up recurring shipments based on how often you shave/how often you would like replacements. And then it just shows up at my door whenever I need new ones! Hooray!
I also love that you can adjust or skip a shipment, so it’s no big deal if you don’t think you need a replacement yet, or you’re just going to be out of town that month.
The Quality:
So the price is right and the convenience is nice… but what about the quality? Good question! I think the quality is far superior to the other razors I’ve used. It has 5 blades that are really sharp, but they glide on your skin really smoothly thanks to a charcoal shave soap that surrounds them. My skin can get really dry, especially in the winter, so I love that this provides some extra hydration without even using the shave cream (which is lovely by the way ?).
The Magnetic Holder:
Okay I know some brands have suction cup holders that allow you to hang your razor on the wall… but none of them compare to this magnetic holder. Your razor magically clings to it without any effort, it helps avoid any rust, and it does not budge. Big fan.
The Mission
The founders started this company because they noticed that women were overpaying for razors that aren’t even thoughtfully made. So they set out to create an affordable line of products (including razors with a slip-proof matte rubber back) that have no sulfates, parabens, formaldehydes, GMOs, drying alcohols, synthetic dyes, fragrances, cheap foaming agents, unstable silicones, or BHT. Booooom!
They also work hard to be a champion for women. They have always donated 1% of our revenue to support women and important causes around the world. And right now, that money is going towards supporting BIPOC women. They also recently donated $100K to Black Lives Matter and the NAACP. Seriously, how incredible is that?!
Have you tried it yet?
