Blueberry Trifle with Hudsonville Ice Cream
Fun fact about me: I am sucker for fruity desserts. It has strawberries? Peaches? BLUEBERRIES?! Sign me UP. Needless to say, when I learned that Hudsonville Ice Cream created a Limited Edition flavor called Blueberry Graham Delight this year, I was so excited. And let me tell ya – it’s just as good as I wanted it to be.
So we decided to team up to create a recipe highlighting this delicious flavor. Of course you could always put it on top of a blueberry crisp… but I wanted to keep the entire dessert cold since the weather is finally warming up. And then I realized: what about a trifle?! This recipe has layers of ice cream between thin slices of pound cake, fresh blueberries, and a graham cracker/walnut crumble for a little bit of crunch. It might get a little messy, but that’s okay! I think it tastes homey and comforting and perfect for a summer night outside.
Blueberry Trifle with Hudsonville Ice Cream
Ingredients
1 (48 oz) carton of Hudsonville Blueberry Graham Delight Ice Cream
1 pound cake (available at most grocery stores/bakeries)
3 graham crackers
1/3 cup walnuts
1 pint blueberries
Instructions
Step One
Before you get started, add graham crackers and walnuts to a bag. Seal the bag and then crush the graham crackers and walnuts with any kitchen utensils you have on hand.
Step Two
In individual trifle glasses, start each one with a thin slice of pound cake.
Step Three
Add 1.5 scoops of ice cream on top and spread it out into an even layer.
Step Four
Sprinkle the crushed graham cracker/walnut mixture on top, followed by a small handful of blueberries.
Step Five
Gently press another thin slice of pound cake on top of that, followed by another 1.5 scoops of ice cream. At this point, you’ll want to quickly get them back in the freezer to set for about 5 minutes.
Step Six
When you’re ready to eat, top each one with whipped cream, more of the crushed graham cracker/walnut mixture, and blueberries. Enjoy immediately!
More About Hudsonville
If you’ve been following me a while, you know that when we want really really great ice cream, we always reach for Hudsonville. I fell in love with this family owned Midwestern company a few years ago and truly, nothing compares for us! They have been perfecting the art of ice cream making in Michigan since 1926 – and it shows. The classic flavors are incredibly nostalgic, their new flavors are innovative and exciting, and no matter what the flavor, you can always count on super creamy ice cream with lots of mix-ins. They also have Dairy Free options for those of you who are lactose-intolerant!!
Where can I find them?
I have purchased Hudsonville Ice Cream in Chicago at both Jewel-Osco and Marianos. If you haven’t had as much luck, you can plug your zip code into their Scoop Locator and that will show you which stores have it stocked near you. It also allows you to search for any flavors or specific flavors too – so if you’re on the hunt for this Blueberry Graham Delight, just specify that before adding your zip code. Pretty handy, right?!
1. Before you get started, add graham crackers and walnuts to a bag. Seal the bag and then crush the graham crackers and walnuts with any kitchen utensils you have on hand. It helps to let the ice cream soften a bit before building the trifles so you can spread it into an even layer. That being said, make sure you don't let it soften too much, otherwise it will just melt everywhere! Perfect post! Lately I have found myself in a skinny jeans and leggings rut. Looking forward to adding more skirts to my wardrobe rotation. I am 5’1″ so the hunt can sometimes be exasperating. Thank you for simplifying and breaking it all down 🙂
