Can we talk about Mom Jeans?
Sweater: Abercrombie (Unfortunately this sold out, but I love this sweater and this sweater! I’m usually an XS in tops like these.) | Jeans: Everlane (Only $68!! I’m wearing the 26 in the ankle length.) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (One of my favorite bags EVER. Love this chevron version, too!) | Shoes: Steve Madden (Runs TTS – takes a few wears to break in, otherwise I love them!)
Okay, we’ve all seen em. We know the SNL skit. But whether you’re on board or not, Mom jeans are back.
While I love me some high waisted jeans, I wasn’t sure about the whole “mom jean” trend. Were they actually flattering? And were they actually comfortable? I wasn’t so sure… until I tried this pair on at Everlane’s Denim Pop Up here in Chicago. And I didn’t want to take them off.
So what’s so great about this pair?
Well, I think the first plus about these is that they aren’t called “mom jeans” ? Just a sensible straight leg that also happens to be high waisted! Along with that, I think it’s all about the wash and the back pockets.
When it comes to the wash, you don’t want to go with anything too light. Find a wash that’s modern and super versatile. As for the back pockets – this one totally surprised me! Apparently Everlane raised the back hook seam and set the pockets higher and closer together to create a “bouncy, lifted look“… and it totally works! I was worried Adam would think these are kind of frumpy, but even he told me I should keep them! Woo!
So… would you wear these updated “Mom jeans”?
Did I convince you? Or are you still not so sure? Let me know in the comments below!
