Cable Knit, Corduroy, and Suede
When I moved this summer, I really took a look at my wardrobe and purged anything that I hadn’t worn in a while. Old sweaters that were pilling beyond repair, skirts and dresses that were ready to retire, boots with snow and salt stains… I know you all know what I’m talking about. But even though I knew I would need to replace some of these items, I also didn’t want to break the bank. Being smart about my budget is really important to me, especially now that I quit my job to focus on the blog full time.
I thought it would take me some time to find things I liked at a good price, but two big orders from Abercrombie when they were having sales did the trick. I KNOW, surprising, right?! But if you’ve noticed that I’ve been wearing a lot of their stuff and wondering if they gave it all to me, they didn’t. (Although I’d love to work with them ?) I’ve just LOVED the styles and price points, especially when they offer extra discounts. It’s too good to turn down!
But let’s focus on this look! I had been wanting a corduroy mini skirt this year, and this one is such a winner. For less than $50, I can put so many different outfits around this piece all the way through winter. I’m just not quite ready for tights yet… it’s too soon!
Shop the look:
Cable Knit Sweater: Abercrombie (on sale!) | Earrings: c/o VO Jewelry (by a local Chicago designer and SO lightweight!) | Corduroy Mini Skirt: Abercrombie (Runs TTS) | Sunglasses: Loft | Necklace: Vrai & Oro | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Boots: Splendid (Runs TTS)
In addition to this skirt, I’m also OBSESSED with these new suede boots. They might not be as budget friendly as the rest of the outfit, but they’re such a great investment. And honestly, snagging beautiful and versatile boots for under $250 is a win! The slouchy fit is perfect for the fabric, and the pointed toe makes any outfit look a little more pulled together. Plus, you can wear them with skirts or jeans, and the heel is chunky and super walkable. Worth every penny!
If you’re also in the market for new boots, I’m working on a roundup that will go live within the next few weeks. Feel free to comment below with specific requests!
I’m also in love with these new hoop earrings from my friend Amy at VO Jewelry. I don’t wear a ton of earrings because I get annoyed with them – but these are SO lightweight, you forget you’re even wearing them! Plus, Amy is a Chicago designer and it’s always fun to support local ladies!
Do you own a corduroy mini skirt?
How do you like it wear it? I’m already thinking about wearing it with a black bodysuit and black tights for a night out!
