Practice Peace (+ a giveaway!)

Good morning, everyone! Tuesdays aren’t usually all that exciting, but this one is because I’m giving away the COZIEST SWEATSHIRT EVER!!
That’s right! A giveaway! I haven’t done one in SO long, but you guys have been ridiculously great to me in 2016, so giving away something fun with Corepower Yoga seems like the LEAST I could do, right?!

I’ll admit, I was going to post an instagram and be done with it, but (1) Ali took a bunch of great photos in her gorgeous apartment, (2) this sweatshirt is seriously amazing and (3) once I fell in love with it’s coziness, I realized that the message was really resonating with me, too.

This year has been nuts. I’ll postpone reminiscing too much until New Years, but the moral of the story is: this year has been nuts! Haha I will be the first to admit that I didn’t always handle the overwhelm and chaos with the most grace… but I have tried. And in trying, I’ve learned that life – like yoga – involves a lot of practicing. Just because I’m nearing 30 (yikes) doesn’t mean I have it all figured out – but they’re comfort in knowing that every other 25/36/47 year old has moments of feeling the exact same way.
So… what’s something we can all do to deal with that uncertainty?
Practice peace.
But what does that mean? Peace is such an elusive term – we’ve all rolled our eyes when the women at beauty pageants wish for world peace (I know you have, don’t lie). But why do we do that? Don’t we all want world peace? Of course… but I think a lot of us forget where it needs to start. It needs to begin in our own selves, every single day. It needs to begin in the way we treat everyone that comes our way – from a stranger to a neighbor to your best friend to someone you might really dislike. Can you breathe and find a peaceful way to interact with these people? Can you breathe and find that peace within yourself? This is how it spreads around, folks. I believe that is true.


As this year comes to a close, I’ve realized that any of my less than ideal overwhelm is pretty equally matched by ridiculously wonderful overwhelm. Sometimes it feels like allowing the good to hold more weight is selfish or naive – but at the same time, I think that if more people took note of what they had in their lives, allowed themselves to be grateful, and practiced peace with others, and more importantly within themselves, maybe we would be living in a different world.

So this holiday season, I am going to try to breathe, party, rest, give back, hug a lot of people, say I love you often, and do my best to let all of you know how thankful I am for your support.

PS. Speaking of giving back, I am co-hosting an event from 5:30-8:00pm tonight to benefit Youth Outreach Services and I’d love to see you there! There will be cocktails and cookie decorating… and the money you donate (only $25 at the door!) will go to a really amazing cause.

    When we are so busy, it is so hard to practice peace! I bought a small purse size weekly calendar, and every morning or night I write down something I am grateful for. This small acts allows me to love the small things and project love outwards. It's calming, and puts life into prospective 🙂
