My Teacher Training Story [Video]
There are many reasons why 2016 has been an awesome year, but deciding to do CorePower Yoga’s Teacher Training program is definitely one of the highlights already. You got sneak peeks on Instagram, and I mentioned it in a few blog posts (this one especially), but today I’m really excited to share my video journals with you! Or at least a snippet of them 🙂
*If this peaked your interest, you can watch the 6 minute version here, too!*
To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect out of these videos – the training program requires written journals throughout the process, but my friends at CPY and I decided it would also be fun to have little chats with you (er, my computer camera) every week, too.
I am much better at talking through my feelings than writing them down (I might talk through a lot of my blog posts as I type them out…), so this ended up being a great outlet for me to reflect in a way that felt really genuine. That being said, I knew that I rambled a lot and I wasn’t sure what they’d use or leave out… so when they sent the cuts back to me, I couldn’t get over how accurately it represented my experience. I’m currently in the Extensions Program, so even though it still feels like I’m “in it,” these pulled me right back into the excitement of Week 1, the EXHAUSTION of Week 4/5, and the overwhelming inspiration I felt towards the end from everyone in my group, especially our amazing teachers.
It still amazes me how everything fell into place throughout this training. My life was crazy busy to START and then I added this on? What was I thinking? And yet, I happened to sign up when killer teachers were on board and wonderful/dedicated/funny/creative people were learning alongside me. Every time I felt overwhelmed, part of what was overwhelming me was the fact that I had to get to class! And yet, I’d go to class and by the time we got to savasana, I felt better, stronger, sweatier, and generally more alive.
“Of all of the times that I felt lost or overwhelmed or confused or sad – those were times when I wasn’t practicing.”
Yoga teaches you to open yourself to up to growth and new possibilities. As I mention in the video, I did just that and so many wonderful things made their way into my life. It’s humbling to notice a pull inside you and acknowledge that not only is there a whole lot more for you to learn, but that you want to learn. I think life is more fun when you recognize that there is always so much more to discover. Especially when the universe grants you with some goodies along the way 🙂
I’ve also realized that it’s never the “right time” to do anything, really.
You’re always going to be busy, there’s always going to be things holding you back – but sometimes life isn’t about taking the safe or easy route. Sometimes the only way you get anywhere and find what you’re looking for is to take a leap of faith. This is something I’m working on in many aspects of my life and this process has given me a lot more confidence in my abilities, my feelings and my goals. What if we all stopped letting fear navigate our paths? I mean… you never know until you try, right?!
I wrote a whole reflection post for CorePower’s blog that will be published next week, so I don’t want to repeat myself too much here – but I did want to share these videos and a little bit of insight to encourage any questions that you might have!
….I also wanted to do a little plugging and invite you all to take class with me!! Woo!!
No, I won’t be teaching the entire class myself (not there yet!), but my Extensions group and I will be leading a community class this Saturday (6/11) and next Saturday (6/18) at the Gold Coast Studio at 1:15pm. We will all be teaching a portion of the C1 sequence, and the class is totally free! It’s also a great time to activate the free week that CPY offers new students if you’ve never been before. And then you can become addicted, like me 😉 I’d love to see you there!

This is so inspiring, I literally opened up the CorePower Yoga website and looked into Teacher Training. This is something I have wanted to do for some time but kept putting off. Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate it!

We are total opposites when it comes to expressing feelings. I am SO much better through writing. That's actually something I noticed about you at the Siggis event – that you were so good at being genuinely excited and sharing it out loud in such an engaging way 🙂
