Cape: c/o Ellsworth & Ivey | Shirt: Gap | Clutch: c/o Cuyana | Jeans: J Brand | Shoes: c/o Hush Puppies
I’ve always admired the city gals I walking down the street rocking a cape… but I was always nervous about taking the plunge. I’m also short, so I would always convince myself that a cape would probably have too much fabric for me. Well… I’ve only owned this one for a little over a week and I’m already IN LOVE.
This one by Ellsworth & Ivey is particularly dreamy. Beautiful quality and not too long… plus it has a belt to cinch in that waist. Oh yeaaaa.
Even though I’m a big fan of adding shape with the belt, I love that it’s completely optional. For example, I went to the opening of Hamilton Chicago this week and I threw this beautiful cape right over my dress. It totally completed the look… way more than any other transitional outerwear I own.
The perfect outfit for a stroll amongst all these golden trees! Please don’t leave us, Fall.
I also have to shout out to these jeans because they are LIFE CHANGING. I discovered J Brand’s Maria style back when I was working retail in New York, and it’s been one of my go to pairs since then. The downfall? They’re super long and I either have to shorten or cuff them a pretty significant amount.
But then J Brand decided to make the Alana style… aka a CROPPED version of the Marias. Whaaaat?! Literally all of my denim dreams came true. If you’re petite, you need these. They were made for us 🙂
Confession: this is actually an iPad sleeve. Pshh, it’s too pretty for that! Clutch, it is!
Do you guys have a cape in your wardrobe?? Where’d you find it? Am I super late to this party?!
Big thanks to Julie Kennedy for these photos!
