Pops of Red for Valentine’s Day
I know January isn’t quite over yet, but the recent “heat waves” have me all excited for Spring already! Sure, that might be jumping the gun a little… so let’s settle for Valentine’s Day ? I’m currently loving this look for the occasion, especially because we never quite know what the weather will be like here in Chicago. I could go with bare legs if the temps creep over 40, or I could put some tights on if they’re dangerously close to single digits. It really doesn’t matter – as long as I have a pop of red. In this case, that means “as long as I have my Everlane Day Heel on.”
But in addition to the pops of red, I’m also a sucker for flirty details. That’s why this bow skirt (currently on MAJOR sale!) is another favorite of mine. Totally versatile enough to wear to the office, but it’s also fun enough to wear on our date night to Mon Ami Gabi! And yes, we’re celebrating Valentine’s Day early so we can get a Restaurant Week deal… such a solid little trick!
Outfit Details:
Top: c/o Amanda Uprichard (on sale!)| Skirt: J.Crew (on sale, too!) | Short Necklace: Vrai & Oro | Long Necklace: c/o Kendra Scott | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Day Heel: Everlane
In addition to going out to dinner a week early, we’re also taking a little trip 2 weeks early! We’ll be heading up to the Grand Geneva Resort to check out their Romance package and I am beyond excited. I’ve never been up to Lake Geneva in the Winter, so we are going to go skiing, get massages, and hopefully find some sort of fireplace situation. I also think there’s a high likelihood that we’ll spike a hot chocolate or two. Oops! Make sure you’re following on Instagram – I’ll be sure to post stories throughout the weekend!
Before I let you go, one more thing about these shoes. If you’ve been thinking about purchasing the Everlane Day Heel – DO IT. They do run a little bit small, so if you’re between sizes, I’d recommend sizing up. But beyond that, they’re pretty much perfect. I’m not sure if you all know this story, but Adam and I were actually friends in High School. We were in choir and madrigals and musicals… including my senior year when I played Dorothy and he played the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. Needless to say, I’ve always had a thing for ruby slippers. Moral of the story? Everlane pretty much made these for me. Don’t you think?
What are you wearing this Valentine’s Day?
Do you like to dress up or would you rather stay in? I know I told you about our fun dinner and weekend plans, but I’m pretty excited to lay low on the actual day. I’m thinking we’ll cook something fun at home – anyone have any recipe suggestions?!
