5 Things: The Necklace I Wear Everyday, Flex discs, and more!
All about the necklace I wear every day, Flex discs, my favorite nut butter, and the best face lotion!
Happy Friday, friends! Last night I got to see Sara Bareilles at Lincoln Hall, and I’m honestly still recovering from her amazingness. I’ve seen her in concert before, but last time was at The Chicago Theatre – so this felt SO intimate compared to that. If you’ve never heard her sing live, check out my insta-stories. She is UNREAL.
But besides Sara, today I thought I’d tell you about 5 more things I’ve been loving recently. These posts are SO fun for me to put together, I don’t know why I ever stopped writing them! Here is my vow that I will continue putting these together a few times a month. Pinky swear.
The Necklace I Wear Every Day (pictured above)
Adam gave me this Vrai & Oro necklace on our first Christmas together and I’ve worn it almost every single day since then. I hadn’t even heard of this brand before, but my sister-in-law suggested it to him, and now I’m clearly obsessed.
I know it’s not cheap, but it’s such a great investment. First of all, this necklace goes with literally everything. But beyond that, the quality is so impressive. Vrai & Oro uses 14k solid gold for their whole Essentials Line, so it won’t change in appearance over time like some plated or filled options might. They also partner with Diamond Foundry, which they refer to as a scientific ‘greenhouse’ for ethically grown diamonds. (You can read more about that here.) It’s pretty cool that all of their diamonds are sustainably grown above ground through solar energy with 100% traceability. No blood diamonds here!
Flex Discs
I’ve mentioned Flex discs in my insta-stories once, and I’ve been meaning to circle back to it because… well, most of us get our periods every month. Why not share what works for me?!
I found out about Flex when the Almost 30 podcast interviewed the founder. It made me so curious that I ordered some of the discs immediately, and my time of the month will seriously never been the same.
Basically Flex makes disposable menstrual discs that can be kept in for up to 12 hours. I honestly think of it as a more comfortable Diva Cup that I can throw away instead of wash/reuse. And yes, I know from a sustainability standpoint, you’re still throwing them away. But Flex discs can hold the same as 3 super tampons, so you’re using WAY less per period.
I’ve since switched to Flex’s menstrual cup (you can read about it here!), but before I discovered that cup, the discs were a great in-between option for me. I would seriously forget that I even had it in, my headaches and cramps during my period decreased (I swear tampons were a cause of my headaches, but I don’t have any science to back that haha), and workouts were FAR more comfortable than with tampons. If you’ve been looking for an alternative, I suggest trying these and/or their menstrual cup!
Nespresso Aeroccino 4 Milk Frother
One of my best friends raved about this Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother she got, and then surprised me with it as an engagement gift! Yeah, she’s the best.
I seriously cannot say enough about how much I love this little machine. All you do is add milk, decide if you want cold milk froth, steamed milk, hot airy milk froth (cappuccino), or hot dense milk froth (macchiato), and then press a button. The easiest thing in the world.
I prefer non-dairy milks, and Oatly produces the best foam by a long shot. I even made an oat milk latte for my Mom last weekend and as soon as she tasted it she asked for this for Mother’s Day ?
RX Bar Nut Butter
RX Bar fans, GET EXCITED! Shortly after I stopped eating RX Bars due to a few food intolerances, they reeled me back in with brand new almond butters in small portable packets. One bite of their maple almond butter and I was in love. (Seriously, it’s SO GOOD.)
That being said, I’m not a big fan of the packets unless I’m traveling. For someone who mostly eats meals at home, the convenience aspect just isn’t necessary for me. Plus, it’s kind of hard to get every last drop out ?
Luckily, my prayers have been answered and you can now get their nut butters in JARS. They’re not cheap, but it has the best consistency and flavor – and I’ve tried a lot of almond butters! I’m actually doing a little Instagram collaboration with them on Sunday, stay tuned to see one of my favorite snacks with it!
Beautycounter Countermatch Lotion
I know we all want to pretend winter is over… but unfortunately it’s not. Wah wahhh. Luckily, my favorite face lotion is helping my skin deal with the cold temps that we can’t seem to shake! I’ve talked about it here before, but I thought it was worth repeating since it’s my absolute favorite. I honestly used to skip putting face lotion on entirely (gasp, I know!), because they felt really heavy. I’d use serums or oil occasionally, but this is exactly what I had always been missing. Even Adam steals it sometimes – it’s the best!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
