A list of the free at home workout classes to take while social distancing!
Normally when I’m dealing with a lot of stress or grief or fear, I get myself to a fitness studio and sweat it out. It’s been a form of therapy for me for years… and all of a sudden, it’s not an option anymore. I know I’m not the only one who has struggled over this very eventful week and a half (that has felt like a year!), which is why it’s so incredible to see so many studios, gyms, and fitness instructors creating FREE digital content for all of us.
Obviously, you could always run outside, but if you live in Chicago – it just snowed yesterday 😂 Plus, there is something really motivating about having a teacher cheering you on… that is amplified even more when you know how many other people are also tuning in to Instagram live!
I haven’t tried all of these, but any that I haven’t tried were recommendations straight from you! There really is something for whatever mood you’re in… let’s dive in!
Free At Home Workout Classes During Coronavirus Quarantine
This is what we’ve been using the most, and new users can use the app for free for 90 days! As many of you might have seen, we decided to get a more affordable bike that is more appropriate for our budget right now – but I love that we can still use this Peloton app. And even if you don’t have a bike, they have a TON of other class options: strength, meditation, yoga, stretching, and more. I’ve been so impressed with all of the teachers so far – HIGHLY recommend!
Since we all can’t go to Studio Three right now, they are hosting free at home workout classes on Instagram live! You can stay tuned to their stories for specific formats and teachers for the following day – but you can count on classes at 7:30am, 12:30pm, and 5:30pm. They also are launching a #S3LiveChallenge: 30 classes in 30 days! Anyone want to try it? If so, it starts on Wednesday!!
Corepower Yoga On Demand is offering a limited collection of free online classes, no sign-in or trial necessary. (If you love those classes, you can subscribe to get access to more for $19.99 a month.)
Lululemon Chicago may not be able to hold classes in their gorgeous new studio, but they are hosting a different class every day this week on Instagram Live for free!
Orangetheory is sharing a new 30 minute at home workout every day. They don’t require any special equipment, but they might ask you to grab some household items.
Barry’s Bootcamp is hosting free 20-minute bodyweight workouts Instagram Live. Check out their stories or their “At Home Sched” highlight for more class info!
Pure Barre On Demand
Pure Barre On Demand always has a 7-day trial. But right now, they are offering 60 days free with code extendedtrial.
Pure Barre West Loop
In addition to the on demand classes, @purebarrewestloop is offering quick 10 minute workouts live every day at 11am!
RXBar is offering RXercise! You can take free workout classes with them on Instagram live at 8am, 12pm, and 5pm every weekday. I love that this local Chicago company is doing this to foster community, even though they don’t normally offer fitness classes! They’re amazing.
Rae has always posted super helpful content, but now she is also teaching live classes AND posting them to her IGTV, too! I need to get a mini band so I can try her most recent one!
Barry’s instructor, Kate Lemere, is utilizing Instagram Live to teach free workout classes from her home. No equipment required – but she might ask you to grab a gym bag!
Zen Yoga Garage
Craving a vinyasa flow? Local studio, Zen Yoga Garage, has been streaming their vinyasa classes live! Be sure to check their Instagram for the updated schedules!
Yoga with Adriene
I discovered Yoga with Adriene a while ago and while I prefer more of a full length vinyasa flow – I know not everyone does! You can find beginner classes, or even just a quick 10-20 minute stretch.
Popsugar Fitness has a bunch of fun (and quick!) workouts – from cardio dance to pilates to bodyweight classes!
I’ve never heard of Madfit on YouTube, but she has TON of free workout videos that work for #quarantinelife: No Equipment, Apartment Friendly, Yoga, and even Song Workouts!!
Fitnessblender is another one that is new to me, but a few of you said you like their workouts. You can choose from HIIT, strength training, pilates, cardio, yoga, barre, and more. And on top of that, you can also choose class length, difficulty level, body focus, equipment needed, and more.
Mirepoix, an awesome little yoga studio in Wicker Park, is offering free classes on Instagram live. I couldn’t find a schedule, but I do know that Lauren is teaching her usual Hip Hop Yoga class this way on Monday at 6pm!

According to a few of you, MVFitness “has the best dance workouts!” Right now, you can take their Dance Cardio Workout everyday at 4pm CST and their 30 Minute Full Body Workout everyday at 8:30am CST.
Froyo To Fitness
Back when I had my gym membership, Froyo To Fitness workouts were my favorite. They’re technically not a “class” – but they’re easy to follow, you can use whatever weights you want, and you’ll feel the burn! Luckily, she now has a FREE 14 day at home workout guide – no equipment necessary!
