2020 Gift Guide for Her
Alright, yesterday was about the men… now it’s time to talk about the ladies! Since I already wrote a post solely about Chicago small businesses, I wanted to make this one a little bit more broad… but please know that there are a bunch of small businesses included within these links! Also, I tried to keep the price points down for you, but I included a few options that are over $100/$150 just in case you and your siblings want to go in on a gift together… or if you just feel like spoiling someone on your list 😉 Let’s get to it!
Pajamas
I always love giving and getting pajamas for the holidays. We all rarely think to buy them for ourselves, but doesn’t it feel so good to get a fresh pair?! I love this flannel shirt and jogger set from the collage, but I am personally obsessed with this PJ set in the dog print. HOW CUTE IS THAT?! If you’d rather get them something that isn’t so holiday specific, I recommend this pair. I own them in both shorts and pants and they’re super soft!
CBD Gifts
By now, you guys know that I’m a big believer in CBD. And right now, my favorite CBD company, Equilibria (which also happens to be female-founded and Chicago based!) is having a major sale on their gift sets! Today and tomorrow (9/10 and 9/11), you can get 30% off sitewide when you order one of their gift sets, PLUS 15% off with my code LAKESHORELADY. This is BIG, guys!
If you’re not sure how the person you’re buying for feels about CBD, the ‘Peace of Mind’ gift set or ‘Comfort of Calm’ gift set is a great place to start. ‘Peace of Mind’ includes their Dynamic Roller Duo and my favorite Cranberry Flavored CBD Oil. ‘Comfort of Calm’ might be better for anyone who doesn’t want ingestible CBD though. That includes their Mindful Mineral Soak (the world’s best bath salts), their Relief Cream (the best thing for any aches/pains – Adam asks me to rub it on his knees and ankles nearly every night), their new Daily Treatment Oil for Face & Body (anti-inflammatory and super hydrating!), and an exclusive artist-designed holiday pouch.
Also, no matter which gift set you purchase, 5% of each sale will benefit Black Girl Ventures, which provides access to social and financial capital for women of color entrepreneurs. How great is that?! (Also, you can read more about the benefits of CBD oil in this post!)
Cookware
You can read my full review of the Our Place Always Pan here, but the moral of the story: this is an AMAZING gift for anyone who loves to cook. Not only is this pan beautiful, non-toxic, and insanely easy to clean – but this small business was founded by a female immigrant with a commitment to ethical labor and sustainability. Yes yes yes! I believe code YUMMY still works for $30, but if not, you can use code LSL10 for $10 off!
If you don’t need a new pan, there’s also been a lot of interest in my Le Creuset casserole dish after showing it in one of my LSL Supper Club stories. It is especially nice to have in the winter months when all you want to cook are warm cozy meals. I use it to make a roast chicken, enchiladas, salmon, lasagna, and more! (I also love their pie dish for quiche, too!)
Cozies
If there was ever a year to get someone sweatshirts and sweatpants, or a robe and slippers – this is the year 😂 This “Social Distancing Club” sweatshirt is from my friend Taylor’s shop, and very appropriate for 2020. I also highly recommend this “Chicago Forever and Ever” sweatshirt and these House of Shan sweatshirts from Chicago ladies, too! If you’re looking for deals, Gap and Aerie also have really awesome options this year.
As for slippers, I love my fuzzy slippers that I got last year and these washable sippers that I got this year. Super affordable and great quality!
Activewear
You might think activewear is only a good gift for fitness gurus, but think about it… who wouldn’t want a new pair of Lululemon leggings? I mean, WHO?! I also highly recommend checking out Outdoor Voices and Girlfriend if you’re looking to support sustainable small businesses – and if you’re looking for something more affordable, Aerie has a ton of really great options!
Something fancy
I know this isn’t really the year for over-the-top gifts, so I’m being a little loose with the term ‘fancy’ right now. For example, I personally really want this silk face mask… would that be fancy any other year? I don’t think so! But since we’re all going to have to continue wearing masks for a while, why not have one that feels really nice on your skin and makes you feel… dare I say… pretty?!
In more traditional terms, I highly recommend checking out Dana Rebecca (a Chicago designer!) and Vrai (the sustainable company that makes my favorite necklace) for high end jewelry. If you don’t want to spend that much, I love everything I own from VO Jewelry too, who is also a Chicago designer!
