Golden Globes 2015: Best Dressed
Who watched the Golden Globes last night?! Was anyone else underwhelmed by the red carpet, but overwhelmed by the speeches?! I’ve re-watched Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kevin Spacey and of course, George Clooney‘s speeches today… they were so humble and appreciative of the fact that they get to do what they love, even more-so than winning an award. As George said, “If you are in this room, you’ve caught the brass ring.” It’s true, those are some lucky people.
They are also lucky because they get to wear some of the most beautiful creations in the fashion industry! It could be my jealousy, but I wish we saw more risks on the red carpet last night. I wasn’t thrilled with a lot of the dresses, but there were some ladies who did it right. Neutrals were a huge trend, so let’s start there:
Even though Diane Kruger didn’t blow me away (like she did here), her Emilia Wickstead dress is beautiful and fits her perfectly. On the other hand, Emily Blunt totally surprised me in this custom Michael Kors gown! She looked like a modern goddess with Lorraine Schwartz aqua earrings and braided up-do. And then there’s Sienna Miller – Queen of Boho Chic. No one could pull off that choppy bob and Miu Miu gown quite like her.
Speaking of trends, did you notice all those plunging necklines?? While I wasn’t a big fan of JLo’s “globes,” I have to give snaps to Kate Hudson in Versace. Damn girl. And last but not least, Reese Witherspoon channeling Old Hollywood Glamour in Calvin Klein. At first glance, I thought it was boring – but then I saw this shot. Perfect.
I also loved Naomi Watts’ look, but let’s be real – I love it less for the Gucci dress and more for the Bulgari serpent necklace. I gasped at the first close up of it – gorgeous diamonds and a daring design?! It was made for the red carpet, and she wears it well.
Emma Stone is a red carpet favorite of mine, and she did not disappoint last night. Obviously I love a good jumpsuit, and that includes this embellished Lanvin number. I give her so much credit for taking a risk and wearing something unexpected, fun and youthful.
And then there’s Julianne Moore in custom Givenchy Haute Couture. Wowza. This is such a killer dress, and the fact that it was custom made for her is mind blowing for any fashion-lover. She looks like a movie star, which is fitting since she also took home the award for Best Actress. Get it, girl.
Who were your favorites?! Did I leave anyone out?!
