A Night In with Layer3 TV
Anyone else love nights at home? Not gonna lie, I like to stay in and be lazy at least one night each weekend. When I’m super busy, the biggest thing I’m lacking is rest – so relaxing and going to bed at a reasonable hour is one of the best things I can do for myself.
Also, when the weather is nice, I like to be outside for as much of the day as possible. Let’s go for a walk! Want to get brunch or coffee or drinks on a patio?! And soon, we’ll all be able to sunbathe on the beach or read by a pool. Sounds fine, right? ? So, when I get my fill of Vitamin D during the day, I’m extra okay with staying in that night. If I already had a fun day, the FOMO starts to settle and I can just enjoy a relaxing night. Anyone else like this routine?!
But here’s the thing: if you’re going to stay in, you need some great TV entertainment and snacks (duh)! Layer3 has the TV portion covered – they’ve got all of the channels I love in HD, along with over 22,000 On Demand titles. On a silly note, their cable box is super sleek and pretty… but on a more serious note, their customer service is AMAZING. You can easily change or cancel your service, there are no annual contracts required, and their billing is totally transparent. No hidden fees? Yes, please! They also have 24/7 customer service with the friendliest reps EVER. I’ve had my fair share of breakdowns over cable providers, so I’m pretty thrilled that those frustrations are in the past now that I’ve discovered Layer3.
I also love that you don’t have to opt in to their HD channels! How annoying is it when you have to pay more for good picture quality? And once you do, you have tons of duplicate channels?! Ugh, drives me crazy! More HD, Less BS – that’s their motto and I love it!
As for snacks, ditch the packaged sweets and make your own chocolate! It’s a fun activity, so you’re not a total bum all night – plus, it’s so much healthier than regular candy. Totally vegan, dairy free, and refined sugar free. And it takes 20 minutes from start to finish. Oh yeaaaa.
You also can’t have a TV night without popcorn! My favorite trick for making popcorn feel a little fancier, is by adding spices!! This one has Italian Dipping Spices and a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Fancy popcorn never looked so easy, right?!
In addition to the pretty box and HD channels, Layer3 also lets you record up to 8 SHOWS at once. WHAT?! I don’t know about you, but I like to have options. On a Friday night, I could want to watch anything from The Voice to Veep to Big Little Lies to Vanderpump Rules ? Just being honest! And now, all of them can hang out in my DVR.
Ps. Have you guys watched Iron Chef Gauntlet? That’s definitely my new guilty pleasure… and Chicago chefs Stephanie Izard (Girl & Goat, etc.) and Sarah Grueneberg (Monteverde) are both in the competition!! Go Chicago!
This vegan chocolate recipe though
I’m 100% serious about adding this paleo and vegan chocolate to your evenings. Throw out all of your M&Ms and Snickers and whip this up! All you need is coconut oil, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and almonds. That’s it!
After 10-15 minutes in the freezer, it goes from a few mixed up ingredients to chocolate. BOOM. Get the full recipe below!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1 scoop Vital Proteins collagen peptides (optional)
- 1 handful chopped almonds (about a 1/4 cup)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
- Combine cocoa powder, coconut oil, Vital Proteins, and maple syrup.
- Stir until combined.
- Taste test! Add more maple syrup if you like things a little sweeter.
- Chop your almonds.
- Spread the chocolate mixture onto a piece of parchment paper. Smooth into an even layer.
- Sprinkle the chopped almonds on top.
- Put in the freezer for 15 minutes to set.
- Roughly chop and serve!
