Homemade Whole Wheat Tortillas
I love tacos, so we like to make all different kinds and fill them with a variety of ingredients. This last time we made them, we thought we would kick it up a notch and make our own tortillas as well. The extra effort was a fun project with a delicious result. Here’s how you make it!
Ingredients
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp Earth Balance (or butter)
3/4 cup water
—
In a mixing bowl, mix together flour, salt, and baking powder.
Mix in the Earth Balance with your fingers until the mixture feels crumbly.
Add the water and keep mixing with your hands until the dough comes together.
Transfer the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes.
Roll out the dough and cut into 12 equal pieces.
Roll out each piece of dough into a thin round tortilla.
Place onto a hot non-stick pan. Cook until golden on the first side…
…and then flip! Both sides should be golden.
And that’s it! It’s ready for whatever fillings you want!
Make sure you check back on Monday to see what kind of tacos we made!!
