Honey Mustard Snack Mix With Walnuts
Honey Mustard Snack Mix With Walnuts
ATTENTION SNACK QUEENS! This Honey Mustard Snack Mix with Walnuts is a little love letter to you. It really has everything – lots of texture, tons of flavor, and walnuts to keep you full. Woo!
While this isn’t necessarily a low-fat recipe, I wanted to make it because it’s still a more wholesome alternative to packaged snack mixes like this. Why? Because the honey mustard flavor is made with really simple ingredients like mustard, honey, onion powder, garlic powder, and some cayenne for a little kick 😉
The most important ingredient…
In addition to simple flavorings, this mix also has the health benefits of nutrient dense walnuts. Not only are they a delicious addition, but they also make this a better-for-you snack. Walnuts can help you feel fuller for longer because of their unique combination of protein (4g/oz), fiber (2g/oz) and good fats including polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) like omega-3 ALA (13g/oz PUFA including 2.5g/oz ALA). Walnuts are also an excellent source of ALA (2.5g/oz) which is a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid that has been associated with benefits for heart health, brain health and inflammation.
This honey mustard snack mix with walnuts is ideal for a chill hang with you friends, even outdoors with social distancing precautions in place! I mean, who wouldn’t like their own individual bowl for a snack mix?! I also think it would be fun to make as a homemade housewarming gift for a friend who moved into a new home, or even for your kid’s teacher on the first day of school. Of course, you can save it all for yourself too. That’s totally acceptable!

How To Store This Mix
First of all, you need to allow the mix to cool completely before you store it. Once it’s cooled, store it in an airtight container – or multiple containers! The most important thing is that it’s airtight, so don’t just put a piece of plastic over the top of a bowl and call it a day. I store mine in these bowls with lids!
