Happy Friday, everyone!! According to my survey last week (ps. today is the last day to fill it out!), you guys are interested in more life updates… so that’s what you’re gonna get!!
I worry about posting photos that aren’t perfect, but I’m looking forward to giving you more authentic glimpses into my life in these posts. To be honest, I’m kind of excited to start sharing more of those here on the blog, instead of just in a story that disappears in 24 hours 😉
So, let’s start with my trip to CONNECTICUT!
Last weekend, I flew out to Connecticut to attend a dear friend’s baby shower and reunite with my favorite crew of ladies. It was really quick (arrive Friday/leave Sunday), but it was so so so worth it. Spending time with girlfriends is good for the soul, isn’t it?!
I met Kaitlin in between my junior and senior year of high school, and I met Kate, Caroline, and Danielle (and Chris, Danielle’s husband!) my first week of college. After college, we all ended up in New York City, and Kaitlin moved in with me and Danielle. Even though we all stayed in NYC for different amounts of time, we managed to all form a really strong bond. Honestly, when I think about how long I’ve had these ladies in my life, I get SUPER sentimental. These are my lifelong friends right here. And now one of them is about to have a BABY!!! (Cue tears ?)
For this visit, I stayed with my friend Kate at her brand new HOUSE! Ahhh! I couldn’t stop giggling as she gave me the tour. When did all my friends become adults?!? The house is amazing though – tons of old CT charm, a brand new kitchen, a great backyard… and a yellow lab to greet you!
Their beautiful pup, Ellie, reminded me SO much of my family dog, Maggie, that passed away a few years ago. She’s super soft and super smiley, and she has “eyeliner” around her eyes and a pig nose (?,) just like Maggie did! The cutest! Once we calmed down after our initial meeting, she was so so sweet with me. Whenever she would look up at me with those big eyes, it felt like Maggie was with me again. Ugh, dogs are the BEST, aren’t they?
When it was time to get ready for the shower, I was SO glad I packed this dress. The sleeves and fabric were super comfy, the color was a great alternative to dark wintery colors, and the PRICE cannot be beat! Seriously, it’s a great staple for any closet. Highhhhly recommend.
And how cute is this onesie we got for the new babe?!
For those who don’t know, Hello Dall’au is actually the name of Danielle’s blog. She is a wonderful (and hilarious) writer and she shares tons of pictures of their adorable home and growing family. Go read it! Do it!
Also, Danielle’s husband made us all laugh/sigh at the shower when he said Danielle should walk around with a sign that says “*Results Not Typical” because she looks so beautiful. PREGNANCY. GOALS.
And because we’re talking about life lately, I thought I’d share some pics of me and my handsome guy on our first Valentine’s Day together! He came over before dinner and I flat out told him that I really want a picture of us. He laughed and assured me we’d get one – but I don’t think either of us were expecting the photoshoot we got!! Our waiter at Beatrix was amazing the whole night, so at the end of the night we asked him to snap a pic for us.
You guys… these shots were ALL HIM. He played with the angles, told Adam to kiss me on the cheek, told us to work the camera ? To be honest, I was worried if we asked our waiter, we’d get an awkward “couple at a restaurant” shot… but now I have all of these great pictures on my phone! Such a wonderful night.
By the way, tune into my insta-stories today because I may or may not be doing a photoshoot with PAWS Chicago this afternoon! Eeeep! We also have a staycation planned AND I can’t wait to enjoy the warm weather coming our way!! It’s going to be a great weekend.
What are you guys up to?!
