A Light Holiday Oatmeal Brunch with Truly Spiked & Sparkling
Tis the season for holiday parties, but that doesn’t mean they always need to be super fancy or indulgent nighttime affairs, right? You guys know that I LOVE a good brunch, so I’ve partnered with Truly Spiked & Sparkling to create one with a lighter holiday twist! All you need is your group of girlfriends, a good yoga class, a pack of Truly, and some oatmeal. Easy peasy!
I first heard about Truly when my family spent the weekend in Lake Geneva this summer. My sister had some in her fridge so I thought I’d give it a whirl. Turns out, it’s super refreshing – and with only 100 calories and 1 gram of sugars, it’s pretty guilt free, too. Which makes it the perfect compliment to my Holiday Oatmeal Brunch Bar!
Now if you’re thinking that oatmeal is a boring brunch choice, I hear you. It can be boring… but this build-your-own version certainly is not! There are fun toppings, cute serving bowls, and CINNAMON APPLES. This isn’t your typical continental breakfast, I promise!
Cinnamon Apples
4 apples
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp butter or Earth Balance
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 lemon
Peel and cut the apples into bite size pieces. Toss in a bowl with cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice. And if you don’t love cinnamon, start with 1/2 tbsp instead of a full one. Heat 1 tbsp of butter or Earth Balance over medium heat. Add your spiced apples and cook for 2 minutes. Lower the heat slightly, add a 1/2 tbsp of water and cover. Cook for about 4 minutes, or until the apples are nice and tender. Transfer to a serving bowl!
Along with the cinnamon apples, add walnuts, dried cranberries and chia seeds to the rest of your serving bowls. Cook your oatmeal according to the package instructions. Once that’s done, you’re ready for everyone to start building their own bowls!
I love working out with friends, so if you can get some of your favorite girls to go to yoga with you, this is the perfect post-class brunch. Oatmeal and apples don’t take long to cook, and everyone can sip on a Truly Spiked & Sparkling while they wait anyway! I don’t think you’ll get any complaints ?
You could definitely host this brunch any time of year, but I love the idea of doing it around the holidays. Apples and cranberries feel extra festive, plus it gives you a chance to take out your cutest holiday bowls! I got mine from Macy’s on sale – $5.99 for snowflake bowls and $13.99 or Merry & Bright bowls? Yes, please! And I know I don’t have a very impressive Christmas tree, but it’s still fun to put on the lights in the background!
Since yoga and oatmeal are both on the healthy side of the spectrum, I especially like that Truly doesn’t have any artificial flavors or sweeteners. It also doesn’t contain any liquor or spirits. The alcohol comes from fermented cane sugar… so cool, right? I personally like the Lemon & Yuzu style the best. It tastes like a bright citrusy sparkling water. SO YUM.
Looks like a pretty inviting brunch, if I do say so myself!
