Embroidered Shorts in Rain or Shine
Happy Tuesday, everyone! It’s been pretty gloomy in Chicago the past few days, but it looks like we’re on the up and up. Luckily, this outfit is perfect for both the sunny and rainy days thanks to the most perfect J.Crew rain jacket and some pretty cute embroidered shorts ?
But before we dive into this outfit, I have to tell you about my weekend! My Nana, Uncle Paul, Aunt Katia, and their kids all flew to Chicago to celebrate the baptism of my sister’s 2nd son – my GODSON! To say that I’m honored to be this little cutie’s Godmother is a huge understatement. I’ve always had such a special relationship with my Godparents, so I’m hoping I’m able to create a special bond with him, too. I mean, we snuggled and watched the Royal Wedding together on Saturday morning before the baptism, so I think we’re already bonded, right?!
And HOW ABOUT THAT ROYAL WEDDING?! I know a lot of people thought Meghan’s dress was slightly boring, but I loooved how classic it was. And I especially loved that choice for the church once I saw her AMAZING reception dress. Hello gorgeous! But beyond what she wore, I loved how joyful the whole wedding was! You could clearly see how excited and in love they both were. I mean, the glances they shared throughout the ceremony…especially when Harry said “you look amazing” to her when she got down the aisle… my heart! If you missed it, I’d definitely recommend reading, Rev. Michael Curry’s sermon; and if you don’t understand why anyone would care about this wedding, I suggest reading this article about why this particular royal marriage is so significant to so many people. Can you tell I unapologetically love Meghan and Harry?! ?
Okay nowwww we can get back to the outfit…

I’m actually working on a post all about budgeting – and a big piece of that has to do with my shopping habits! I really try not to buy too much each season, and this outfit is the perfect example of my shopping mentality.
I had a great anorak jacket for YEARS until I left it at Soho House one sad day. Ever since then, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect rain jacket… and this is IT! I immediately loved the classic navy color and tailored fit, but they really won me over with petite sizing! Such a win!
Then there are these cute embroidered shorts. I always say the best way to get trendy items is at a discount – and these babies are only $30 right now! Plus, the high waisted cut makes these super classic, so even if embroidered shorts aren’t trendy next year, I will totally still wear these.
And last but not least… the most COMFORTABLE nude sandals EVER. Seriously, there’s a reason why they keep selling out on Nordstrom, Shopbop, AND Madewell. The 2″ heel is super walkable, which is especially great if you live in a city and do a lot of walking in the summer. I’ll be wearing these with everything from jeans to skirts and dresses to shorts!
