4th of July in the City

A few weeks ago, I got to swing by Loft on Michigan Avenue to go shopping with their Style Director, Amanda Kraemer! She chatted with me all about how the latest collection was inspired by the mediterranean tones of Southern France, big bold tribal prints, tropical breeziness, and of course – bringing trends like gingham and off the shoulder tops to everyone at an affordable price.
Amanda showed me these shorts and saw my excitement immediately. Because I have a small waist and big hips (and booty!), regular shorts can be frustrating for me. A higher rise is way more flattering and eliminates that awful gapping in the back. Plus, the buttons are so adorable, aren’t they?!
We grabbed this off the shoulder top to go with it, which was the perfect choice. It’s trendy, flirty and perfect for summer. Plus, if you don’t want to wear it off your shoulders, you can just wear it as a cute little scoop neck top! How versatile is that?!
Since the 4th of July is coming up, I paired this look with my favorite Rebecca Minkoff bag – but really, any pop of red (like this affordable one!) will do the trick. Now you’ve got your red, white and blue on without feeling like a flag! I’m not knocking those of you who will go all out, but not all BBQs call for that kind of enthusiasm, am I right?
Thanks to Shaheen from Lows to Luxe for snapping these photos for me!

How cute is this look Lauren?! You look so happy and summery (if only the weather would cooperate so we could wear shorts everyday!). Perfect, understated look for the 4th!

I'll admit. I usually go all out with red white and blue, but I love this subtle take on the patriotic trend!
