Long Sleeve Wrap Dress
Long Sleeve Wrap Dress: Yumi Kim (another print here/solid here) | Necklace: Vrai & Oro | Tights: similar | Shoes: similar | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff
So, I’ve been reading through all of the responses from my survey this week and I cracked up at a few suggestions for more content about “how to dress for Chicago winter.” First of all, if this was you, I didn’t laugh because you’re wrong (you’re actually spot on). Instead, I laughed because coordinating outfit posts during winter in Chicago is kind of hilarious and this post is a PRIME example. The day we shot this look, Julie and I decided we’d do this one inside, Tuesday’s look outside, and the 3rd look… you guessed it! Inside again ?
That being said, those comments made me realize I can definitely get more creative with roundups, winter sweaters and cold weather accessories when I run out of coats to feature, and dresses like this! I don’t know about you, but wearing cardigans with all of my dresses gets so boring in the winter. Enter this long sleeve wrap dress!
This print isn’t available anymore, but I linked to other prints and similar dresses in the widgets at the beginning and end of this post for you guys. Honestly, I don’t know what I did without a long sleeve wrap dress like this in my closet. The v neck is a little flirty, the sleeves keep you warm, and the wrap silhouette is super flattering. It’s the perfect winter dress! Also, I wore it all day to an event with my boyfriend’s family and I felt put together, comfortable and appropriate. Hallelujah.
On a totally separate note, if you follow my stories on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed this necklace. I’ve literally worn it every single day since my boyfriend gave it to me for Christmas. It is by far my favorite piece of jewelry.
But guess what happened on Wednesday night?!
Oh no big deal, I just DROPPED IT DOWN THE SINK. I was about to take a shower and I took it off in the bathroom, which I NEVER do, and it slipped out of my hands and into the drain. I called him dangerously close to tears and he told me not to run the water and wait for him to get there. Even though we could see it from the top, it was too far/narrow to grab it, so Adam had to unscrew the pipes underneath the sink. We put a bucket there to catch any extra liquid, and once we touched the necklace with a paperclip, it fell right down the pipe and into the bucket. PHEW.
Moral of the story: keep your most prized possessions far away from sinks! Never. Again. ?
Besides the necklace drama, I just want to thank you all again for filling out my survey. I’ve read every single response and I have a HUGE sheet of notes because of YOU. It made me so so happy to hear that so many of you think of me as a friend (my HEART!), and it made me even happier to get such constructive and respectful criticism. Some suggestions were things I already knew and haven’t had a chance to prioritize yet – but some others were things I never would have thought of or noticed on my own! I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner. Seriously, you are so freaking helpful! Thank you thank you thank you. Really.
What are your go-to dresses in the winter? Do you have a long sleeve wrap dress like this or do you just throw a cardigan over sleeveless/short sleeve dresses? Let me know your tricks!
