Madewell Shorts Sizing + a few other favorites!
When it comes to summer shopping, shorts are always the most requested topic – and I totally understand why! They are REALLY hard to shop for! Some are tight around the thighs. Others are WAY too short. Some gap a TON at the waist. Others run super big or small. It’s always a confusing and frustrating topic, so I thought I would start a post all about Madewell shorts sizing.
I went back and forth about writing this, because I only have 2 current pairs right now but I figure that this is something I can add to as my collection grows – and I added a few others from different brands underneath them as well. I hope this is helpful for you!!
Madewell Shorts Sizing
Perfect Jean Short
The “perfect jean short” style really lives up to the name. They aren’t too short, they don’t gap at the waist, they’re super comfortable – ALL good things! The denim is sturdy but also soft, and I think they are run true to size. (I got a 27 and I am usually a 26 of 27 in shorts.) It has a high rise of 10.5″ and a 3″ inseam. I also really appreciate that for each pair made at the Fair Trade Certified Saitex factory, Madewell contribute to a Community Development Fund managed by the workers.

Relaxed Denim Shorts
To be honest, I might like these relaxed shorts even more than the other ones – but the sizing is CRAZY. You know how I’m usually a 26 or 27? I got a 25 in these, and one of my close friends got them and went down 2 sizes, too. I know it might feel weird to place that order, but trust me. They definitely run big! That being said, I’m so glad I found them because they are super comfortable AND on sale! These shorts have a high rise of 10 3/4″, a 3″ inseam, and very little stretch.

Other Favorites
90’s High Rise Cutoffs
These cutoffs feel a little bit shorter in the front than the Madewell options, but they are longer in the back which is such a game changer! Gals with big booties know what I mean on this one. I will say that these stretch out a little bit with wear, but they shrink back up after a wash. I got my usual size 26.

Linen Shorts
If you are over jean shorts, I understand and I highly recommend these linen shorts! I got the cropped pants version first and loved them so much that I bought the shorts… and both are SO COMFY. I got a size small and they are plenty roomy, especially since there is an elastic waist. Love love love them.
