Fancy Track Pants
Top: Loft | Earrings: Bauble Bar (similar) | Lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury | Pants: Madewell (on sale!) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Shoes: J.Crew | Coat: DKNY (similar)

A few weeks ago, I met with a super talented new photographer in Chicago named Julie Kennedy. I knew her photos were good from her website, and I had a feeling she would be nice to work with based on our email exchange – but she couldn’t have been warmer or lovelier. Shooting an outfit post for a blog is a weird thing and can easily become awkward. I always want to be as authentic as possible here on Lake Shore Lady, but “acting natural” is way easier when you know that the person shooting will tell you if you look weird or if the way you’re standing is unflattering! This is exactly why I usually stick to shooting with Ali B Photography and my blogger friends, but Julie made me feel comfortable right away. Yay for another photographer friend in Chicago!!
Besides just the photography, I’m obsessed with this outfit. Pants are usually so tricky for me because I’m petite AND curvy – double whammy. I tried these silk track pants on for fun without any expectation at Madewell one day and I was shocked when the length was perfect! No hemming! I also loved how I could get a size that fits my hips comfortably without worrying about gapping at the waist. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a drawstring!
This has been my go-to outfit for dinner events recently, sometimes switching to a different blouse (seen here) – but this red top is definitely my favorite way to style them. I love how polished it looks even though it feels like you’re in pajamas. Major score.
I loved weaving our way through the Gold Coast for this shoot. Everything is pretty on those streets – the steps, the gates and even alleyways like this one.
Soon we won’t even need coats, right Mother Nature?! Maybe??

You look adorbs as always! I felt sooo awkward the few times that I shot outfit photos – I'm hoping to get over my fear this year 🙂
PS that lipstick looks amazing on you. What shade of Charlotte Tilbury is it? Love that makeup brand.

Those joggers really do fit you like a dream! You make me really want a pair!
So glad that all went well with the photographer, I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my husband to take mine – I'm so awkward in front of a camera otherwise haha.
Love the sharp pairing of red and black and cheers to chic outfits that are insanely comfortable!

So beautiful! They don't look like "traditional" track pants at all, you've styled them perfectly!
