March Fitness Recap (+ 2019 Workout Planner)
It’s a great day today, because not only is it Friday, but we also leave for Barcelona today!! YAY!!! I am seriously over the moon with excitement – part of me still can’t believe we actually booked this trip and made it happen. It’s been a goal of ours to prioritize travel, so I can’t wait to soak up every minute.
Before we get to the recap…
Truth be told, I feel very different than I did a few months ago. Remember when I said how good I felt in my own skin? Well, that feeling has been coming and going all month long – which doesn’t really make sense considering my fitness routine the past 2 months have been better than ever!
I think that’s actually where my frustration is coming from. I’m consistently doing great workouts, but I’m not seeing the progress I want. What gives?! Sure I could pay more attention to diet/nutrition specifically for muscle definition or weight loss… but do I actually care that much?
Here’s the thing – why do I feel the desire to look a certain way? Especially when I’m already a size 2 who works out a lot and eats well? Who deemed skinny arms and a thigh gap as the only way to be healthy and beautiful?
I definitely think April is perfect to reconnect with nutrition a little bit – especially after all the paella and sangria I know I’ll have this week ๐ But, I also want to use it as a month to love myself a little bit more. You know how I ask you to write down 3 things you like about yourself in my 2019 Wellness Planner? This is exactly why I added that in there. Because we all need to reconnect with what we LIKE about ourselves sometimes, instead of solely focusing on what we don’t, right?
March Goals
I wanted to keep up the healthy habits I established at the beginning of the year – and when it comes to exercise, I really did!!
March Obstacles
I definitely underestimated how tired I could be from walking all over Expo West (and the SoulCycle class I did while I was there), but that didn’t really set me back. Plus, walking that much definitely still counts for an active weekend!
March Lessons
March has reminded me that I shouldn’t get discouraged by a lack of physical progress. Every time I exercised, I did something good for my body and that is still hugely beneficial for my overall health – whether that results in abs or not ๐
# of workouts completed:
As of 7am this morning, I completed 21 workouts this month!
Lincoln Square Athletic Club
I checked into my gym 11 times – but it wasn’t just for treadmill intervals and Froyo To Fitness circuits this month! I discovered a new class called Bodypump and it’s definitely a new favorite. You use a barbell for most of the exercises in the class, adding and removing weights on the sides depending on the exercises. I like it because it targets all of the big muscle groups and it’s only 45 quick minutes!
Studio Three
I took three 3×3 classes this month… all about the number 3 apparently! Clearly I love 3×3, but as the weather warms up, I want to try another Torch, Hi Def, Hot Power Yoga, and maybe even a spin class again!
PS. I have a code to get your first class at Studio Three for free, but I can’t post it here! Just DM me on Instagram if you’d like it!
Coconut Yoga
I actually only made it to one class at Coconut Yoga in March. But that’s just because I had plans most Sundays this month so I couldn’t go to my favorite 75 minute intermediate level class with Kate every week. I also cut back on my Classpass membership – but I still have enough credits to go to that class a few times in April because it’s my favorite!

Club Pilates
Instead of only going to Linda’s Level 2 classes this month, I switched it up and went to a few Cardio Sculpt 1.5 classes. I forgot how much that jump board will get ya! I also got up for a 6am Flow 1.5 class this morning so that I’m tired on the plane later today… here’s hoping getting up that early helps me fall asleep!
SoulCycle
Holy moly, I hadn’t been to a SoulCycle class in months and it was HARD. That, combined with walking a zillion steps at Expo West, resulted in very sore legs. I don’t even remember the last time my legs were that dead ? But the class was super fun and I totally remember why people get addicted to those classes. It’s like a dance party on a bike!
Equinox Master of One Class
If you follow my insta-stories, you know that I tried out the new Master of One class at Equinox last weekend, and it was AWESOME. It’s very similar to a typical weight training HIIT workout, but you only use one weight at a time. It was really interesting to pay attention to which side of my body feels stronger/more confident with medium to heavy weights.
Coffee & Pilates
I’ve been meaning to check out this cute pilates studio for a while, so I jumped at the chance to try their new HIIP class (High Intensity Interval Pilates) and I loved it. It moves at a faster pace, with more reps per exercise than most other classes. My heart rate got elevated a few times, and I definitely felt the burn! Plus, the coffee shop in the front is super insta-worthy ๐

April Goals
It’s funny that I’ve been feeling a little self conscious recently, because this is a little snippet of what I wrote in my Workout Planner for April:
If you feel off your game, or you have trouble finding your groove, reconnect with the questions on this page, and trust that the universe will help you get back on track.
Sooo….. I guess I knew what I needed to hear this month when I wrote that in DECEMBER?! So crazy, right? Needless to say, this month, I want to reconnect with everything I like about my fitness routine and how it makes me feel, instead of getting down about how that translates to my physical appearance. And as much as I wish I could be lazy some days, I really like getting this much exercise each month! So that’s what I’m going to keep doing!
