Mindful Monday V4
Happy Monday, friends! As I write this, it’s 9:45pm and I’m in Wisconsin for a fun trip with Carmex. If I’m being honest, part of me wants to go to bed, but I really like these Mindful Monday check-ins, so here we go! Let’s keep this one short and sweet ?
For this round, I thought I’d chat about doing things alone. I posted about dining alone in Napa on Instagram last month and got so many incredible responses, so I know you guys think about this stuff, too!
For me, I feel like there are some things I do alone without a thought in the world. Workout classes? I don’t need a buddy. Grocery shopping? Let me be! I’m even happy going for a long walk by myself. But just like dining alone, going on press trips (like the one I’m on this week!) always give me a slight pause of anxiety. The social part of me loves the idea of meeting new people, but there are always a little bit of nerves. Will I like the other people there? Will they like me? It sounds so juvenile, but it’s true!
The same thing goes for events at home. How many times have you thought to yourself “this event looks so cool, but I have no one to go with and I don’t want to go alone“? I have! When in reality, almost every time I’ve said “screw it” and gone to something by myself (or even with people I only know a little), I have a great time. And the times I haven’t? Well, friends, the world kept spinning and everything was okay ?
So let this be a reminder that feeling a little hesitation shouldn’t prevent you from putting yourself out there or doing things you’d like to do. And if you need a little more encouragement or want to expand your network online, the gals in my Lake Shore Lady Community Group on Facebook are pretty awesome. Never hurts to ask if anyone in there wants to go to something with you!
Do you ever get nervous doing things alone/showing up by yourself?
I’d love to hear your experiences!

I totally love reading this! I agree, there are so many things I don’t hesitate doing solo, shopping for clothes, going to a movie—although it is fun with a pal or my guy too. Restaurants are not my fav unless I don’t have someone to go with if it’s a sit down meal……..lunch or dinner to go, easy for me, solo! I recently challenged myself and signed up for a book club that a radio station hosts once a month. It was right after work and I usually just go home. I went and had such a good time! It was great to meet some new people, it’s mostly women and will be going again in Oct. I was so energized from that experience:) It reminds me I need to do more things like that.

They are the same style (J Brand Alana), but not exactly the same wash. Mine are from a few years ago, but they should still fit the same!
