My Go-To Shoes This Winter
Let’s talk winter shoes! I realized last week that I definitely have pairs I reach for more than others… and since we’ll probably be dealing with winter for another 2 full months in Chicago (ugh!), I thought it might be helpful to chat about my most worn pairs. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really hoping that we don’t see any more major snow storms, but who knows? Remember that snow storm in May last year?! Crossing fingers that doesn’t happen again!
My Go-To Shoes This Winter
Koolaburra Boots
I’m starting with these because I literally start every morning with them! Before these, I refused to buy Ugg boots for years – I think because they reminded me of college so much ? Syracuse gets a LOT of snow… and I always destroyed my boots. Such a waste!
And yet, once I got a dog, I realized that having a warm pair of shearling boots to slip on first thing in the morning when it’s cold and snowy outside would be pretty great. So my mom got me this pair for Christmas and they make my mornings INFINITELY better. Seriously, all dog owners need them!

Everlane Glove Booties
My favorite booties!! They are the most comfortable booties I’ve ever owned, so it’s no surprise that they’re always my first choice as long as it’s not super wet outside. (They’re not weather resistant!) Luckily, we haven’t had a ton of snow this year though, so I’ve still gotten a ton of use out of them! They run true to size and they go with everything. I’m such a big fan!
You can see more of them in this post and this post!

Allbirds Mizzles
These were another Christmas gift that I’m OBSESSED with. This particular pair has Puddle Guard™ which means that in addition to being thick and cozy, they are also water repellent! I don’t work out in them at all, but they’re great for walking Luna and running errands around the city. They’re also warmer than their other pairs, which is really nice when the temps dip super low. (If you’re between sizes, size up.)
Also, in case you’ve never heard of this brand, Allbirds sneakers are also eco-friendly and machine washable! Such a cool company.

Blondo Booties
I bought these booties during the Nordstrom Sale over the summer, and I thought I was so smart… but now they’re 60% off!! I’d say I should have waited, except I’ve worn them SO MUCH this winter. Honestly, the fact that they’re water proof is such a game changer. How many times do you see rain or snow outside and think “well, I guess I’m just going to ruin these shoes since I’m not wearing snow boots to dinner!” ?These solve that problem! (Runs true to size.)

J.Crew Snow Boots
If you want something cuter than the stereotypical slip on snow boots, I cannot recommend these J.Crew boots enough!! They’re SUPER soft and warm, and I get compliments literally every time I wear them. Highly recommend!! (Runs true to size.)

Everlane Court Sneakers
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect sneaker forever. You know, the kind that are comfortable enough for long walks but still look cool? This pair checks all the boxes!
I usually think I look a little bit like a soccer mom in my really comfy pairs, and my trendier Steve Madden pair might look cuter, but they give me blisters, while these needed ZERO break in time.
Plus, they’re under $100 and they are made with less waste, less energy, and less virgin plastic than other leather sneakers like them – and Everlane offsets the emissions they couldn’t eliminate. So cool.

Over The Knee Boots
I was reluctant to include these because my exact pair is sold out. But I wear them a lot in the winter months and this pair is SO similar!

Nike Sneakers
When it comes to working out, I’ve become really loyal to these Nike sneakers! I don’t wear them outside anymore and they stay in my gym bag for Fit Body Bootcamp classes. While they were made specifically for running, I still like them for bootcamp style classes because they’re great for any cardio exercises like sprints, burpees, jump squats, etc. Not specifically for winter, but still a fave!

My go tos are Sorel boots or Frye shearling lined for deep winter and Aquitalia or La Canadienne styles when I need to look more polished. Ancient Uggs for when it is dry, yet cold. I did order the Blondo boots but had to return as I had an issue with the left toe box. I guess it is more or less trial and error, as I have lived in Chicago for over 5 years and only now feel that I’m on point with my winter footwear game 🙂
