New Years Eve Outfits to Ring In 2018
I know everyone’s thinking about Christmas right now, but can we talk about NYE?! It can take a while to pick out that perfect New Years Eve outfit – especially if you’re not sure what you’re doing yet! Luckily, I’ve done some preliminary shopping for you to get the wheels turning.
Based on a recent insta-story poll, it’s helpful for you to see things ON me, so instead of creating a collage, I thought I’d pull some of my favorite party looks from the archives. I was going to wait until I shot this year’s New Years Eve outfits (this morning! Eeee!) but just in case you don’t want to wait until after Christmas – this post is for you ? Let’s dive into my favorite categories…
Rompers and Jumpsuits
Remember this romper that I wore in my 30th Birthday post? (Pictured above) Well, not only is it still available – now you can also get it in jumpsuit form! Plus if you’re velvet crazed like me, you can snag the jumpsuit or dress variation – both in velvet! I know I already have one, but I’m seriously swooning over the velvet dress. Is it weird to have 2? ? But really, jumpsuits and rompers were made for nights like New Years Eve. They’re sassy but sophisticated, and you don’t have to worry about being too daring or overdressed. Go for it!
Textured Skirts
Is there anything more fun to dance in than fringe? I actually suggested this New Years Eve outfit to ring in 2017, but it’s still a solid look for 2018. I think the key is to look for something with a really fun texture – fringe, beading, sequins, tulle – it’s all good on NYE!
Classic Party Dress
I know I know, most New Years Eve Outfits are very much on the sexy side… but you don’t have to go that route if you don’t want to. And please don’t if it’s just flat out inappropriate for the party you’re attending! ? Regardless, you can’t go wrong with a classic party dress. I love this one that I featured last year (Kate Spade made a similar version again this year), but no matter what your style is, find one you love and rock it.
Fun Tops
Here’s the thing. NYE dresses are super fun, but sometimes you’re not in the mood for a dress! Or maybe you’re not sure what everyone else is wearing… aka committing to that skin tight sequin number might be a little nerve-wrecking. Enter: The Party Top. All of a sudden sequins are less scary! I also love all of the velvet options, which is shocking I know ? But really, there are tons of fun and affordable options in the widget below. Be prepared to add to cart.
Layer It
Since we just talked about this in last week’s post, I’ll keep it short and sweet here. Basically, if you have this layering turtleneck, all of those dresses you thought weren’t practical are all of a sudden back in the game!!
Black Tie
I know a very small amount of you will be dressing up for a Black Tie Event, but if you are, I got you covered! These two looks are from my collaboration with Rent the Runway for last year’s Snowball Gala (sooo fun!) and they’d both be great for NYE. You can read about the gown I chose in this post, or read about my favorite short option in this post!
Did I leave any categories out of this post?
Like I said, I’m shooting more NYE looks today, so keep an eye out for those right after Christmas. And let me know if there are any other options/categories you’d like to see! I’m all ears!
