October Fitness Recap (+ Free 2019 Workout Planner)
*outfit details are in this post!
Well, hello November! Last month ended with quite a bang – I thought we were going to get a tiny bit of snow and we ended up with a blizzard! It’s sad when October ends regardless, but add snow to the mix? Don’t go, Fall!!
Let’s Chat Fitness
If you’ve been following me a while, you probably know that I’ve struggled with a routine for over a year now. Back when I lived in Old Town, I had SO many class options within a short walking distance. Then I moved to my new neighborhood and my options were much more limited. Club Pilates is close, but that alone won’t keep me in shape. I found a gym that I like, but it’s over 15 minutes away if you walk it. And of course, I love Studio Three, but I can’t always take the time to wait for trains to get to and from class when I’m busy.
But there is a fitness studio called Fit Body Bootcamp near the Brown Line and I finally decided to check it out a few weeks ago. I had passed it so many times, why not give it a go? Well, I took one class and signed up for a membership on the spot right after. Usually I try to negotiate some sort of discount in exchange for coverage here – but since I knew it’s exactly what I need, I didn’t even bother. I already know it’s going to be worth every penny.
I’ll chat more about the format below, but I’m SO excited to finally have a kick ass workout that I can easily get to and fit into my schedule. I went to 4 classes my first week, and I’m scheduled to go to 3 this week – feels so good to be back in a routine that I know I can stick to, even when the weather is terrible š Woo!
October Fitness Recap
October Goals
I wanted to stay committed to a routine, and I ended up finding an even BETTER and more sustainable routine! I call that a major win.
October Obstacles
My biggest obstacles this month were a press trip to California (although I did fit a run in while I was there!) and my east coast bridal shower. The second one wasn’t a very long trip, but I went out with my cousins in NYC after the shower and only got 4 hours of sleep before I had to head to the airport for my flight the next day. Then, I powered through instead of taking a nap when I got home… yikes. Let’s just say, it took a little time to recover from that ?#thisis32

16 workouts!
Fit Body Bootcamp
My new favorite workout in my neighborhood! As I mentioned in the intro, after my first class, I knew that this is exactly what I’ve been missing. The classes are a bootcamp style circuit, but they’re only 30 minutes long. Even if it’s a really hard workout that day, anyone can get through 30 minutes, right?! That amount of time is also really easy to squeeze into your day – I’ve been able to go even when my schedule is super busy, which is so nice. I’m such a big fan!
club pilates
I got back to Linda’s classes this month and I missed her so much!! I’ve realized I really like having pilates as a part of my routine, and it’s actually a great compliment to the bootcamp classes that I’m doing now!
studio three
Since I’ve been having trouble getting down to Studio Three recently with my schedule, I usually try to take a class like 3×3 or Hi Def to “make it count.” But now that my other workouts are hard bootcamp circuits, I love the idea of cross training with yoga at S3! Their teachers are all amazing, and I’ve been really missing yoga in my life recently!
PS. I have a code to get your first class at Studio Three for free, but they donāt want me to post it here. Just DM me on Instagram if youād like it!
lincoln square athletic club
Now that I’ve found FBB, I’m going to quit LSAC… but I still highly recommend this gym! It’s very neighborhood-y, the classes are great, and I think it’s very affordable.
running
I ran once by myself and a few times with Luna this month and… Luna is still so bad at it ?. She’ll see a squirrel and dart off or lag behind after we’ve ran a few blocks. And honestly, I don’t think it’s worth focusing too much training effort on this now that it’s basically winter. Maybe we’ll try to pick it up again in the Spring when she’s a little bit older?

November Goals
I really want to get to Fit Body Bootcamp 4 times a week, and then mix yoga or pilates in one other day as a more low impact option. We’re going out of town for one long weekend, otherwise we’re around, so I’m hoping I can stick to that!
What are your goals for November?!
