Our Bedroom Upgrade with EasyCare Paint
Let’s play a little game. Have any of you ever moved into an old Chicago apartment that is perfectly charming… except for the yellow walls? I don’t know why landlords gravitate towards paint with yellow undertones, but I know it’s not just mine! And while we’ve overlooked it for over a year, we finally decided to make a change in our bedroom.
Once we got approval from our landlord, I went to the True Value Fall Reunion event with my friend Maya to chat with the EasyCare Paint color expert. I went straight for the stark whites since I had a one-track mind: no more yellow! Turns out, there are a LOT more options in between what was on our walls and the whites I was grabbing.
During my “color consultation,” I learned that cooler hues (like gray, blue, and purple) can actually be calming and help reduce stress. I mean, if there’s one room that should be the most relaxing, it’s where you sleep, right?
So, we decided to go with EasyCare Paint in “Berries and Cream” – a soft gray with some blue undertones. It’s a nice cool color and it goes perfectly with our gray headboard. I don’t think I ever would have picked it out myself, but I’m so glad she helped me find it. It’s perfect!
The Perks of EasyCare Paint
We decided to go with EasyCare Paint for this project for SO many reasons. First of all, their paints are VERY high quality. The formula, which is a paint-and-primer in one, is stain resistant, low-odor, low VOC, and 100% acrylic. We were so worried about having Luna in the house when we painted, and we couldn’t get over how mild the smell was and how quickly it went away!
EasyCare Paint is also certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America due to the fact that they minimize the irritants and pollutants in the air. Luckily Adam and I don’t have asthma or allergies, but I still like the idea of breathing in cleaner air! And this is the ONLY paint brand that has all of their colors AAFA-certified. Pretty impressive!
Oh, and if that’s not enough, they also have over 1,200 colors to choose from in five different sheens (flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and gloss)!
As I mentioned, we went with EasyCare Paint Berries and Cream in the eggshell finish and I couldn’t be happier with it! It’s a subtle shift, but it changes the whole feel of the room. Every time I walk in, I let out an exhale now – it’s so calming and welcoming! Now, I just need to update our bedside tables, ottoman, and dresser. I’ll get to that one day… 😉
Have you painted any rooms in your home?
Or are you thinking about painting one? I’d love to hear about your projects, too!
