Outfit Ideas for A Summer Wedding
Summer is here and that means another wedding season is upon us!! It can be so much fun to pick the right dress to complement the venue and style of each wedding – but even though it can be nice that there’s so much choose from, it can also be a little overwhelming. So today, I’ve put together a roundup of wedding guest outfit ideas to wear to a summer wedding, whether it’s a black tie affair or a chill beach party. As long as you’re not planning to crash a wedding while wearing white, I’m pretty sure I can help you find something 😉

Black Tie Wedding Attire
Oohhhh you FANCY! Black tie weddings are always SO much fun, but it can be a little stressful figuring out what to wear! I personally think a full length dress is your best bet for this dress code, but that doesn’t mean you can only wear black. If you know that everyone else will be in gowns, I love this one and this one – SO FUN. If it’s Black Tie Optional or you just really don’t want to buy/rent something you’ll never wear again, try dressing up a maxi dress like this one.
As for fabrics, I like looking for chiffons, silk, lace, or crepe. Honestly, you’ll know as soon as you feel the fabric if it’s appropriate for a black tie wedding though!
And lastly, let’s talk price. Obviously black tie gowns can get pricey, but there are options if your budget is tight. For example, I love this stunner and this sale find are both only $88!

Traditional Wedding Attire
If your wedding invitation says “cocktail attire”, it can be hard to know what that means. Semi-formal? More casual than that? Help! For me, I usually think that traditional wedding attire can be whatever you feel most comfortable in – as long as it is classy and put-together. I’d start with similar fabrics as a fancier wedding (chiffon, lace, silk, etc) but you can also look at some more breathable fabrics like linen, too. And feel free to have a little more fun with lengths, hemlines, colors, ad prints.
It’s no secret that I love a good print dress – I mean, how pretty is this floral midi dress?! I also love these limited edition nap dresses – you can read my review about their sizing here, too! Really just wear what you will feel great in on the dance floor 😉

Daytime Wedding Attire
Going to a backyard wedding or garden wedding in the middle of the day? You can definitely wear something more casual. In fact, I think this is the easiest type of summer wedding guest dress to pick out. I usually reach for lightweight linen mini dresses because they look nice but they’ll also keep you cool in the afternoon heat.

Beach Wedding Attire
First if all, if you’ve been invited to a beach wedding, I am JEALOUS! Not only because it’s lovely to be on a beach, but also because you can have so much fun shopping for wedding guest dresses!! I personally would look for really flowy fabrics and silhouettes without worrying about being too formal. It’s also a great opportunity to wear eye catching prints or a pretty floral pattern.
I personally would take this opportunity to treat myself to a Farm Rio dress (probably this one or this one!), but I found some other really fun options below, too. Just be sure you like the way it looks barefoot or with flip flops in case you will be in the sand all night!
