Outfits Inspired By My Best Friend’s Wedding
Back when I decided that I wanted to attempt this Rom Com style series, three movies IMMEDIATELY came to my mind. First, You’ve Got Mail. (Don’t worry, there’s more YGM content coming – I’m just waiting on a few orders!) Second, The Parent Trap. And third, My Best Friend’s Wedding.
While I am more of Kimmy in the style department – I’ll recreate her pastel outfits in the spring – Jules’s style is actually VERY on trend right now. Trousers and blazers and cropped sweaters and vests are all “in” this fall. While I didn’t replicate each of the following 4 looks exactly, it was pretty easy to draw inspiration from each one and come up with a version that she would wear today in 2022.

Airport Outfit
Blazer (Runs slightly oversized, I got XS) / Tee (old but similar here and here!) / Straight Leg Jeans (runs true to size in petite, standard, tall and plus!) / Loafers (30% off! Runs small, size up half a size.) / Bag (old but similar here!)
Jules has on trousers, a blazer, and a t-shirt when she gets off the plane, but I updated the look just slightly with straight leg jeans. The dark wash still looks polished without committing to a whole suit. I’ll admit that I’m not much of a blazer girl, but I got this one recently and I have been LOVING it. It’s just oversized enough without looking ridiculous on my petite frame.
Baseball Outfit
Tee (old but similar here and here!) / Petite Trousers (see below for sizing insights!) / Sunglasses (probably a little extravagant for Jules, but the shape feels very 90’s!) / Sneakers (runs a little small for me)
Technically she doesn’t change from the airport to the baseball game in the movie, besides removing her blazer. But I love her trousers and t-shirt look so much back then… and what do ya know? It’s a very popular look this fall, too! I know these particular trousers are a little pricey, but I loved that they come in petite and the fabric/fit are really nice. If you don’t think you’ll wear them a lot, they might not be worth the cost – but if you think you’ll throw them on both for work and casual days out, I say go for it!
As for sizing, I tried on a 2 in regular sizing at the store (seen here) and then ordered a 2 in petite sizing online and couldn’t zip them. So I sized all the way up to a petite 6 which was a little overkill but I kind of like that they’re roomy. That being said, if I add the black color to my wardrobe, I’ll get a petite 4. A little confusing, but I hope that’s helpful!
Boat Outfit
Sweater Vest (wearing a size small) / Way High Drape Pants (wearing a size 2 in 30″ inseam) / Heels (expensive but really great quality and surprisingly comfortable)
Does this scene on the architecture tour crush anyone else?! MY HEART! I always hated the vest she wears in this scene, but this sweater vest is a different story. The texture is so nice and I love that I can layer a shirt underneath it if I want to be warmer. Also, these pants are a good less expensive alternative to the ones above! I’ve also tried this pair (seen on me here) which are a great option, too!
“Pick Me” Outfit
Cropped Sweater (wearing a size small) / Wide Leg Jeans (Comes in petite, standard, tall and plus. If you’re between sizes, I’d size down!) / Loafers (30% off! Runs small, size up half a size.)
Besides her lavender dress, this is the outfit I think of when I think of Julia Roberts in this movie. And it just so happens it was also the easiest to recreate! I mean, black jeans and cropped sweater? SAY NO MORE!
