Ooooooh, it’s my birthday and I’ll cry wear sequins if I want to!
Well guys, it’s my 28th birthday. I’m 28 today. How weird is that?! While it feels strange to go from mid-twenties to late-twenties, I also feel a genuine sense of excitement for the future.
For the first time in a while, I really feel like I’m coming into my own. This past year was filled with taking time to figure out what I want and what makes me happy, pushing myself to invest in me and this blog that I love so much, putting myself out there and meeting some of the most inspiring women in the city of Chicago (or anywhere, really!), and feeling good about being a work in progress.
And so much of that is thanks to YOU GUYS. For reading, for supporting, for commenting. And for all of the Chicago bloggers that make networking a fun word instead of anything remotely scary. If you’ve heard that Chicago has the most wonderful and welcoming bloggers ever, you are 100% correct. This city has become an even more special place to me because of all of you and I feel so lucky to count many of you as my friends.
So… why sparkles? Well… why not?! I went to check out the new Rent the Runway store in Chicago and ended up trying on everything from sweet Red Valentino to bold Clover Canyon to a Reem Acra ballgown (when in Rome, right?). In the end, this sequin dress won my heart and I knew it was the perfect way to welcome a new year.
See that volume in my hair?! I finally got volume in my ponytail – it took a few tries, but teasing and hairspray ended up doing the trick for me! Who wants a tutorial??
One more thing! What I would LOVE for my birthday is to make a few of my goals on social media! I’m only a few likes away from 1,000 on Facebook and I’m super close to 3,500 followers on Instagram. If you aren’t already following, it would mean so much to me if you did it today!
Big thanks to Kelly in the City for snapping these photos!
