Not sure what to think about Reformation sizing? Here are all of my insights!
If you know me, you know that I am a Reformation superfan. Every time I wear one of their dresses or link to their stuff, I get compliments. They are timeless and fun and versatile and excellent quality. But with those compliments, also come DMs asking about Reformation sizing – and I totally understand why!
Their website doesn’t have reviews and their sizing can be a little tricky depending on the fabric and style. So I thought I’d put together a post with the available dresses and separates that I own and my sizing insights. That way, even if you aren’t shopping the exact dress I have, you at least have a reference point to help you figure out what size you need!
If you’ve never heard of Ref, they are a sustainable company that I discovered a few years back. I immediately fell in love with their feminine silhouettes and versatile options – but I became even more of a super fan this summer when they had SO MANY great dresses for my bridal events.
Not only are they mindful of sustainability, but their dresses also just fit me exceptionally well. Since I’m petite, I often have trouble finding the right proportions – but I usually don’t even need petite sizing in their dresses. It’s THE BEST.
Reformation Sizing – Dresses
How do their dresses typically run? What size do you usually get?
Their sizing can definitely be a little tricky, but in general, I think that their linen styles run true to size, while their other fabrics can run a little smaller. I will dive into the sizing for each specific dress, but in general, I am usually a size 2 or 4 in dresses. I wear a 34B bra, my waist is around 28″, the widest part of my hips are around 38″, and I am 5’2″.
I am usually always a 2 in their linen dresses, unless it runs very slim in the hips. That being said, I usually have to size up to a 4 (or recently a 6) in their other fabrics that don’t give at all.
I’ll occasionally size down in tops or very blouse-y dresses, usually if they are a linen or knit fabric vs. polyster blend. Same goes for choosing between XS and small. (For reference, I tend to be an XS/S in tops and size 26/27 jeans at stores like Everlane and Madewell.)
Do they have petite or plus sizes?
Yes! As I mentioned above, I usually don’t even need the petite sizing for some strange reason… which is lovely! If a style is very long or the proportions just aren’t right, it’s nice to know that they offer it sometimes though. They also have extended sizes up to 3X!
Where do you wear Reformation dresses?
Literally everywhere. Obviously some styles are fancier than others, but I’ve dressed almost all of mine up for events and down for brunch. They are so well made and versatile. It just depends on what shoes and accessories you pair with them!
When does Reformation have sales?
While they don’t happen often, they DO happen twice a year! The first one is at the end of summer – around mid to late August. You can shop my picks from their end of summer Reformation sale here!
The second one is around Cyber Week. It usually starts on Black Friday and continues for a while until the majority of the styles are sold out.
Reformation Dresses (with petite friendly sizing insights!)
Tagliatelle Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size/a little long
I was crushing on this dress for MONTHS after trying it on in store in a size 2 regular. I tried to convince myself I didn’t need it… but then I saw it in a 4 in petite sizing at the Reformation sample sale in Chicago. It was MEANT TO BE!
The silhouette is so romantic and classic, with a perfectly cinched waist. I think linen dresses like this run really true to size and there is smocking in the back for extra comfort. This dress comes in 8 colors – all are gorgeous!
Besse Dress
Sizing – Runs small
The Besse dress feels like such a classic Reformation wedding guest dress – just without a slit that you have to worry about around family members 😂 There’s a side slit on one side, but it doesn’t come up super high at all. Don’t get me wrong, I love a slit, but sometimes it’s just not pratical!
I found this dress to run small. Granted, I’ve gained a little weight since I first started at Reformation, but even still, this style has zero stretch. I am typically a 2 or a 4 and I sized up to a 6, which fits me like a glove. The straps are adjustable ties and it comes in 9 colors/prints.
Bucatini Dress (similar)
Sizing – Runs true to size
The dress pictured above is old but the Bucatini Dress is suuuper similar. The linen fabric, the cinched waist, and the ruffle hem are all pretty much identical. I got this in a size 2 and I still wear it all the time, so I’d recommend getting your usual size.
Also, if you’re more sold on the print than the dress, the Besse Dress (one above this one) now comes in the same lemon print! So perfect for a trip to Italy – swoon!
Sable Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size/a little long waisted
If you’re looking for a comfortable dress that you can dress up or down, the Sable dress is perfect for that. The whole bodice is smocked making it a really easy fit, and the straps are ties so you can tie them to your liking.
I got a size small and one thing I noticed is that the smocking comes a little bit longer/below my waist that I would like – but this was a sample sale find for me so I overlooked that. If you are taller or have a longer torso than me, I don’t think you have to worry about that though.
This print is sold out, but it currently comes in 3 prints including a beautiful bridal white, a summer-to-fall green, and a black print that you could wear literally any time of year!
Arta Dress
Sizing – Runs a little small
This is one of the prettiest wedding guest dresses I’ve purchased in a while – it was perfect for my cousin’s wedding! I sized up to a 4 because of the fabric and the fact that it was final sale at the time, and I’m glad I did.
The fabric doesn’t have stretch so if you are debating between 2 sizes, I would size up. I also love that the length is petite friendly. Huge win! This comes in 4 colors this year, including a gorgeous gold print that would be so beautiful for a fall wedding!
Belgium Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size
Ahhh my rehearsal dinner dress! This dress is a DREAM. As soon as I zipped up my typical size 2, I was obsessed. It comes in 3 colors this year – the pink and navy are great for guests/events and the white is perfect for a bride.
The slit is a little high though, so just keep that in mind if you will be sitting without anything on your lap (like a napkin at dinner). I also think that you could easily take it to a tailor to stitch it up a little bit to make it more conservative though.
Rayna Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size/ a little small.
The dress pictured above is actually the Salento dress from a few years ago, but this Rayna dress is SO similar! They both have a halter neck, fun jungle print and sassy slit.
The skirt on mine was only connected in the back and adjustable so you could show a little midriff, but this new one is all connected. I think I like that better – it’s less to worry about when you wear it!
Luke Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size/a little long
If I’m being honest, I wish this dress came in petite so it was a little bit shorter – but I still love it so much. I got my usual size 2 and I would definitely say it runs true to size, especially since you can adjust the waist with a little tie in the back of the dress.
I wore these with sneakers while sight seeing around Italy, but I’ve also dressed it up for fancier occasions like this night at the theater (this video shows more angles of it, too!)!
Miso Dress (similar)
Sizing – Runs true to size to a little small
I am wearing the Roarke dress above which is unfortunately old, but the miso dress is really similar! The main difference is thicker straps, but other than that, it’s pretty much the same dress. I got my usual size 2 which is a little snug now – but it was perfect when I bought it right before my wedding and it still zips today!
I bought it to change into on our wedding night when it got too hot for my wedding dress, but I also love it dressed down with flat sandals and a jean jacket, as seen above.
I also really like this white linen mini and this one too!
Morris Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size
I just tried this dress on in store and wow she is CUTE! I tried on a size 4 but because of the smocking, I think I’d be fine in a size 2. The red is adorable but I also love this print that’s available on Shopbop!
Henrietta Cashmere Dress
Sizing – Runs a little big
Sweater dresses can be really hard for me to find, especially when they are pretty shapeless/don’t have a defined waist. But as soon as I tried this one on, I knew it was worth the splurge. The cut lays so nicely, with a gently oversized fit that still makes me feel cute! I got an XS.
Keep scrolling down to the section called “Reformation Sizing – Separates” to read my sizing insights for more of their sweaters, too!
Suze Knit Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size
Remember this dress from my You’ve Got Mail rom com reel? It’s back and ON SALE! I got a size small and it’s definitely a slim fit, but the fabric is stretchy. You can wear it on it’s own but I love that it also looks cute with a turtleneck or white button up layered underneath too. It’s so versatile!
Sigmund Dress
Sizing – Runs long (length and arms)
This is another style I’ve been curious about for a while! After not being able to zip the Twilight dress in size 2, I opted for a size 4 here – which was not only a little big on me, but it was all around just too long on me.
This is when my 5’2″ self needs the petite sizing!! (It also comes in extended sizing, too!) It is GORGEOUS in person and comes in a few colors/prints.
Niara Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size
I’ve been curious about this style for a while and WOW IT IS PERFECT. My usual size 2 zipped up like it was made for me. They only had this white print in store, but it comes in 5 other colors/prints. Such a great little party dress!
Lucky Dress
Sizing – Runs a little small/low cut
I got this exact dress for our original engagement photos back in 2019 and I still wear it often! Unfortunately the exact dress/print didn’t come back this year, but this one is SO similar!!!
While I was totally fine in an XS in the linen wrap dress, I remember purchasing both the small and XS in this one – and I ended up keeping the small. The XS fit, but I couldn’t tie the wrap tightly enough so that the neckline would cover my bra. I still usually pin the neckline even though I sized up, but this way I know it won’t pop open. Just something to keep in mind if you are getting a non-linen wrap dress – they don’t give as much!
Ecomove Active Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size to slightly small
I ordered this active dress in a size small instead of an XS because I was worried the ecomove material might be snug. I love the way the small fits, but I have a feeling I would have been fine in an XS, too – so I’d say go with your normal size unless you tend to be between sizes – and then go with the bigger one.
Michaela Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size/a little big
As I’ve mentioned, I am usually a size 2, but I ended up getting a size 0 in this dress. If you have a bigger chest than I do, I’d definitely stick to your normal size, but that’s not a concern for me 😉 The only part of this dress that is snug is the chest, because the rest flows away from your body right underneath that, and the sleeves aren’t tight at all.
This print is old, but I’m so glad you can still get it in black – and it’s also available at Anthropologie. I’ve dressed this up for dinner dates, but I’ve also worn it casually with sneakers (shown above!).
Saskia Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size
I didn’t buy this dress when I tried it on in store last year, but it’s back this year in 7 different colors/prints and I want it! I tried on a size 2 and it fit perfectly although I would probably size up to a 4 this year for a little extra room. Such a great sundress to wear with sneakers to brunch or with heels to an event!
Kaelie Dress (similar)
Sizing – Runs true to size – plus the wrap feature makes it adjustable!
My exact dress is sold out now, but this dress is super similar! I got an XS since the sleeves are nice and billowy, and you can adjust the waist to your liking since it’s a true wrap dress.
When I say I love this dress, I loooooove this dress. I wore it for our engagement photos, but I’ve also worn it casually out to brunch/dinner and even wine tasting in Tuscany! So versatile, so feminine, and so comfortable!
Persimmon Dress
Sizing – Runs true to size if not a little small
The Persimmon Dress was actually my very first Reformation dress back in 2018 – and it’s still a favorite! I got a size 0 back then, which unfortunately is a little snug now. I wish I had gotten my typical size 2 in this one so I didn’t have to suck in quite so much to get it zipped up 😂
That being said, it’s still one of my all time favorite dresses. I’ve worn it everything from showers to a day in the park to dinner dates to sight seeing and more. It’s SO versatile!
Zelda Dress (Wearing the very similar Creed dress)
Sizing – Runs true to size, but a little snug in the shoulders!
I got the Creed dress a few years ago for a friend’s wedding, but this style is SO similar. It has the same bodice, open back, length and slit. The only differences are the updated print and the slightly shorter tie sleeves. I got my usual size 2 in this dress and it fits amazing.
That being said, towards the end of the wedding I wore it to, one of the buttons popped off the back. Obviously that was mostly due to tipsy dancing, but keep that in mind if you have broad shoulders or if you want to wear it to an event where you’ll be dancing a lot!

Reformation Sizing – Separates
Zoe Skirt
Sizing – Runs true to size
I bought this skirt for our trip to Italy and I have gotten SO MUCH use out of it since!! I got a regular size 2 and it’s a little long on me, but it fits like a glove otherwise.
I thought about getting it in the petite sizing, but the slit comes up a little high so I was worried it would come up even higher in the petite. You could certainly stitch the slit a little bit to make it more conservative though! Regardless, I have worn this with sneakers, sandals and heels – it’s so versatile!
Constance Top
Sizing – Runs small
I have another top called the Portia that’s super similar, but I just love this dreamy print! I find these tops run a little small, so I always size up to at least a 4.
Natalia Cashmere Twist Front Sweater
Sizing – runs true to size
This sweater is truly the best winter date night sweater ever. It’s so beautiful and feminine, but still warm and cozy! I got an XS and it fits great, but I kind of wish I sized up to a small so that I had a little bit more fabric to pull off my shoulders. Just something to keep in mind! See more photos of it here.
Mason Pant
Sizing – regular sizing runs true to size, petite sizing runs a little small
I tried these pants on in a regular size 2 in store (see below) and they fit perfectly, besides the length without heels. So I ordered a petite size 2 and they were way too small. So I sized up to a petite 4 in the black and a petite 6 in the cream which I like for different reasons. The petite 4 is the right fit and the petite 6 is an oversized/more casual vibe.
As for length, I am 5’2″ and the petite length is perfect with a small boost, but a little too short with a real heel – as you can see in this post. In other words, if you’re petite like me and want them to wear with low heels and sneakers/loafers, go with petite sizing. But if you want them to wear with heels, go for the regular sizing!
Ossie Knit Tank
Sizing – true to size
This tank is SO CUTE! I tried on the small and it fit me really well (they didn’t have XS in store for comparison). The notch adds a little bit of fun, and the material is really soft and lovely. A great elevated basic!
Cropped Cashmere Turtle
Sizing – runs true to size
I am a HUGE fan of cropped sweaters and this one is the perfect length with high waisted jeans. I have a size small and the sleeves are a little long, but otherwise I love it!
Hart Cashmere Sweater
Sizing – true to size
This sweater is GORGEOUS. I love the combo of the fitted bodice with blousy sleeves – and being petite with short arms, I always love a slim wrist detail. I tried on a small and it fit great, but I think I could also go down to an XS too.
Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater
Sizing – runs a little big
I tried on this cashmere boyfriend sweater in an XS and it still fit oversized, so no need to size up for that blousy fit. It’s also a lot more lightweight than I was expecting which is really nice for transitional weather. The white is a little sheer though, so I’d personally opt for a darker color like one of the camel stripes or their pretty pink!
Cashmere Polo Sweater
Sizing – runs true to size
While I didn’t love this color in person, this sweater is another great slightly cropped option (and it comes in 4 other colors!). I tried on a small and it’s a little long in the sleeves again, but otherwise I love the fit.
Garrett Cashmere Oversize Turtleneck
Sizing – runs big and very long in the sleeves
I know I mentioned sleeve length in a bunch of these, but this sweater has VERY long sleeves. Thee other ones didn’t bother me very much because I can easily push them up my arms or even tuck them under – but these are long and clunky. Just something to keep in mind if you have short arms like me!
Livvy Top
Sizing – Runs true to size
OMG THIS TOP IS PERFECT! It’s lightweight, it’s feminine, it’s not too long, it’s perfect. I got a size small because I immediately knew that I needed it in my closet. It’s great with shorts, skirts, jeans, everything!
T-Shirts
Sizing – Runs true to size
I am in need of a little t-shirt refresh so I tried on their classic crew and their oversized crewneck tee in a size small. I think both run true to size for what they are – the classic crew fits normally and the oversized one fits… oversized 😉 Highly recommend both! I hope they make them in more colors this summer.
Alyssa High Rise Shorts
Sizing – Runs a little small
I’ve been eyeing these shorts ever since I found them for my Taylor Swift Concert Outfit Ideas blog post – how cute for the Red era?! I tried them on in a size 27 and they were a little snug on my booty and thighs but they do have some stretch to them!
If you’re less curvy in that area than me, I think you could get your normal size, but if you have a bum, I’d size up.
Linen Shorts
Sizing – true to size
I got my linen shorts last year, but this new version looks pretty much identical! I wore these so much last summer – the smocked waist, cuff bottoms and comfy fit make them a great staple. I got a size small.
Lorin Top
Sizing – true to size (besides the straps) to a little big
I’m so glad this top came back this year because it’s such a good one! I got a small and the straps were a little long on me so I probably should have gone with an XS – but I poked additional holes in the strap for the buttons and that worked. They also have a few new linen sets (shop here, here and here) that include a similar linen top. I also like this one too!
Sinead Two Piece
Sizing – runs true to size (if between sizes, size up)
I debated putting this two piece set in the dresses section because it’s is sold together… but I LOVE that you really can wear them separately. I sized up to a 4 because I didn’t want the top to be digging into me at all, especially since the skirt is a wrap so you can adjust it to fit exactly how you want it to.
And if orange isn’t your thing, this also comes in a blue print and in sold black! I love this matching moment, but I also plan on wearing the top with jeans and the skirt with a basic top!
