Let’s Start The Week Loving Ourselves

Happy Monday!
Since this week is bound to bombard us with lots of hearts and talk of love, I thought I’d kick the week off with a little chat about giving some love back to ourselves.
There are so many amazing things about the social media world we live in – but there’s no denying the fact that it can take a toll on how we view ourselves. Our real selves. Unfiltered. I mean, haven’t we all thought “Why don’t I wake up looking like that?” Or “I wish I had that [apartment, wardrobe, body, relationship, etc].” Or “Why do they have everything all figured out and I don’t?“
But I’m willing to bet, even the most seemingly-perfect people have their own insecurities and struggles. We all do! It’s not about the absence of those thoughts, it’s about how we process them and how much power we allow them to have over the rest of our lives. If I see girls with long skinny legs on Instagram, I could tear apart my own. OR I could be proud of my short legs because they get me where I need to go! I could let a negative or condescending comment bring me down. OR I could trust my own instincts and goals, and keep working hard.
And probably the most relatable one – when we all take our makeup off, can we quiet the negative self talk a little? Can we be less hard on ourselves for the laugh lines or dark circles or that damn pimple?
As many of you know, I got eyelash extensions a few weeks ago.
(The full blog post about that is coming very soon for those who are curious!) While I have a list of pros and cons to getting them, my favorite “pro” is that it’s helped me wear less makeup. They’ve made me feel more put together and glamorous, so I haven’t felt the need to reach for my eyeliner every single day like I usually do. So nice! But when I asked Adam why he didn’t love them, he said “I just don’t think you need them. You’re beautiful without any of that stuff.“
And whenever he says sweet things like that, I always wonder – why do I have such a hard time being that nice to myself sometimes? It’s just like when he told me to stop being so mean to his girlfriend!! Why is it so hard to believe that we actually don’t need to change every little thing about ourselves? That maybe there’s a lot that’s right about us, just as we are.
So, this week, I encourage you to try to notice any negative self talk when it pops up. And if it pops up when you are taking your makeup off tonight, look yourself in the mirror and work to quiet those thoughts. Maybe even bring some Simple Facial Wipes to your Galentine’s Day Party, and encourage all of your best gals to embrace their makeup-free selves, too!
Obviously, there are a ton of options out there to help you remove your makeup
And I’ve tried a lot of them. That being said, I pretty much always have Simple products in my bathroom because they are easy, effective, and available right at any local CVS. Doesn’t get much more convenient that that! Plus, they’re so affordable. Some of you may remember that I also love Beautycounter’s facial wipes, but they’re so expensive! Using one of those every single day just isn’t always practical. Simple takes that worry out the equation.
I also love that you’re still getting amazing quality with these products! The Simple facial wipes can get any makeup off (including water-proof mascara), they’re enriched with Pro-Vitamin B5 to help nourish your skin, and they don’t have any artificial perfumes, dyes, or harsh chemicals. In other words, they make it easy to embrace your natural beauty, just like we talked about ❤️
Want to embrace your true makeup-free self this week?
From now until February 16th, CVS is offering a Buy One/Get One 50% off deal on select Simple products, like these Simple Facial Wipes!
