My go-to look for a winter night out
As you might recall, last Friday I rounded up the Best Date Night Spots in Chicago, and the week before that I highlighted the Best of Chicago Restaurant Week! If either of those posts made you want to plan a night out, I’m totally in the same boat. It’s so easy to feel cooped up in the winter, which makes it the perfect time to make a res and tackle that never ending list of Chicago restaurants to try!
But even if you and your significant other make a res, or you find a date that works for all of your girlfriends, you still have to get dressed and out the door when it rolls around! Luckily, this outfit is my solution to the chunky sweater blues.
Sheer Turtleneck: Free People (similar)| Velvet Cami: J.Crew (similar)| Jeans: J Brand | Coat: DKNY | Shoes: Banana Republic (similar)| Bag: Rebecca Minkoff
I first fell in love with this sheer turtleneck layered under a holiday dress, but this outfit justifies the purchase even more. For example, it can be hard to style a velvet cami! Velvet is thick so you don’t want to save it for warmer temps… but also wearing thin straps and bare shoulders in the winter is less than ideal. Luckily, this cute little sheer turtleneck solves that dilemma – and you still look cute enough for date night or girl’s night out! Boooom.
Also, I know this bag is nothing new… but almost 4 years later and she’s still one of my faves. The quilted leather, the quality construction, the classic style – this baby will never go out of style. If you’ve been looking for an investment bag that isn’t a huge investment, I highly recommend this one!
What’s your favorite “going out” look in the winter?

Love this layered look! Turtlenecks and button downs until camis are so fun, and give you a lot more winter outfit options!
