Spring Intentions with Lululemon
On Adam: Surge Warm 1/2 Zip in Rosemary Green | In Mind Pant 30″ in Obsidian (both run true to size!)
On Lauren: Align Tank in Guava Pink (runs a little small!) | Slip Into The Moment Jacket in White (runs a little big, but I like the loose fit.) | Wunder Train High Rise Crop 21″ in True Navy (I LOVE THESE. Definitely need to add them to my Lululemon Leggings Guide.) | Everywhere Belt Bag in True Navy
Spring is here!
Spring has SPRUNG and I truly feel like a new woman. Does anyone else feel this way? Chicago winters are always a little tough, but this winter was particularly hard. Not only was there a lot of snow and cold temperatures – but we also couldn’t go anywhere because of the pandemic! I have also been dealing with some hormone issues over the past year, and the combination of all of those things definitely took a toll on me, both physically and mentally.
But the beautiful spring days that have popped up recently have totally shifted everything. Just being outside without freezing feels like the best thing in the world!! I feel more motivated, upbeat, and overall more like me. Adam has been feeling the same way, so we’ve been taking advantage of opportunities to get out of the house by taking Luna for lots of walks. While we love Winnemac Park, we’ve also made a goal to go to new places each weekend. All three of us love the change of scenery, the exercise and fresh air feel great, and Luna is always WIPED when we get back home. Wins all around!
Spring Intentions with Lululemon
And if you ask either one of us what we’re wearing on these walks… it’s most likely lululemon. We both have been die hard fans for years – in fact, we both still wear items we purchased at least 5 years ago. The quality and fit just can’t be beat for me, especially since they have different lengths on all of their leggings to accommodate different heights. A petite dream!
However, I think the best part of lululemon is that you can wear their pieces for literally any activity. A long but low impact walk like this? Great! What about a high impact bike bootcamp class? Yup! Running errand around town? You still look GREAT!
About My Outfit
Before we dive into my intentions for spring, let’s quickly chat about my outfit because I am in looooooove. I know I always talk about how much I love align leggings, but now that I’ve gotten really into cycling and strength classes, I have been reaching for these Wunder Train leggings way more. They have more compression and it’s made out of their fastest drying sweat wicking fabric. Plus the navy color is beautiful. I wear my usual size 6 (fits like a size small) and the 21″ length is a great crop for me.
Obviously I still love the buttery soft align fabric though! That’s why I had to try their Align Tank… and it’s just as amazing as I hoped it would be! I really wanted to this pink color (shocker, right?!), so I got a size 8 because that’s all they had left in stock… but it actually fits perfectly. If you don’t like your tops too tight, I’d suggest sizing up. (I usually get a size 6 in tops, too!) They made this top for yoga specifically, but I’ve worn it for pretty much all of my workouts and it’s been great. Granted, I don’t need a whole lot of support – so if you do, you might want to stick to low impact! And lastly, it’s the perfect length for petite girls to wear with high rise leggings. I bet it would even be cute with high waisted jeans, too!
Don’t forget about…
Also, if you’re in the market for a layer that isn’t too long on petites, you need this jacket! It’s super lightweight and easy to tie around your waist or scrunch up in a backpack if you get too warm. I have a size 6 and while I definitely could have sized down to a 4, I kind of like the oversized fit, especially since it’s meant to be short. I know that I’m going to get a TON of use out of this!
And last but not least, have you heard me rave about their belt bags before? I bought one last year and I ended up wearing it nearly every single day for walks with Luna. Since I used it so much, and my other one is a print, I figured it was practical to get another one in a solid color this year. It’s a great size for your phones, keys, sunglasses, mask, and hand sanitizer.
Intentions For Spring
After such a tough year, the spring weather, blooming flowers, and vaccine rollouts have made me feel like hope is in the air again. To keep that good feeling going, I am focusing on these intentions for the season…
Get outside more
Luckily, Luna gives us a reason to get outside every day – but sometimes it’s so quick that I don’t even really enjoy it. (Or it was so freezing, it was hard to enjoy ?) So, these next few months I want to really savor any outdoor time. Even if that’s just taking her for a slightly longer walk or working outside for an hour or two.
Move every day
I’ve been really good about exercising consistently throughout the pandemic, but something about spring makes me feel more motivated! Instead of just getting through a class, I have energy to really push myself during class! It’s such a nice feeling so I want to keep that going every day. Even if it’s something really difficult one day and stretching/restorative yoga the next. That’s all movement!
Focus on healthy eating
I’ve been a generally healthy eater for years now, but this past year has been full of more comfort food than usual. I was giving myself grace about that until I realized that the hormonal headaches I’ve been majorly struggling with can be impacted by what I eat. Don’t worry, I still believe in balance – but I am feeling really motivated to make healthy choices every single day.
Block my calendar
I used to do this religiously (read my work form home tips!) but I’ve let it go a little recently. Last week, I started again and I remembered why it’s such a game changer. When I can focus on one thing at a time, I am able to get so much more done – and then I can really unplug at the end of each day.
Allow myself to unplug more
In this industry, it’s really easy to think about work all the time. Even innocently checking Instagram at the end of the day to see what people are up to can put me right back into blogger mode with an inbox full of DMs. So I am hoping to set some boundaries and increase my productivity during normal business hours (thanks calendar blocking!) so that when I’m off duty, I can really let myself unplug and be present.
Find more delight
Obviously the pandemic took a lot of delightful options out of our lives… but I’ve also realized that I stopped wanting to do things unless I could tie them to the blog or social media. How crazy is that? Why can’t I just do things because I like them? Or experience things for the sake of the experience and not because it would make a great post? This doesn’t mean that I can’t take photos or share later – I just want to really live in the moment more as the world opens back up again, and generally find more delight in the little things.
what are your spring intentions?
