Spring Splurge

Usually when I say “spring is the around the corner” in February, it really feels crazy far away. Wah wahhhh. But this unseasonably warm winter, especially with those random 60 degree days, has made it actually feel right around the corner! I look forward to this change of seasons every year… along with every other Chicagoan ? The whole city comes alive once everyone realizes the sunshine and warm temps are here to stay! It’s a fresh start… and nothing says “fresh start” quite like a fresh closet!
As I get older, I see more and more of the appeal of investing in well made items. For some people, “investing” means buying a Burberry trench or a Birkin… but don’t worry, I’m not on that page either! Honestly, no matter what your budget, this style of shopping is merely focusing more on quality than quantity.
Luckily, there’s a new site called Orchard Mile that can totally help with this. I’m assuming you’ve started doing a little online shopping, only to realize you have a million tabs open because everything you want doesn’t exist at one store. Right?! Well, Orchard Mile combines most of your favorite designers/retailers into one luxury e-commerce site… that you can customize. Oh yeah. When you see a designer you like, click “Add to my mile” and once you’ve identified your favorites, your “mile” will populate all of your favorites. All that’s left is to go shoppin! And even if you pick items from different sites, you can check out with one shopping bag. Easy peasy.
So, here are my suggestions for a spring splurge!
Coats – Even when spring rolls around, you need outerwear here in Chicago. I personally love a classic trench coat, a chic leather jacket, or a fancy cape (I’m obsessed with mine)!
Shoes – There are few things better than a great pair of shoes, right?! When splurging on a pair, I like to stick to classics like neutral pumps, sandals or flats.
Bags – I’ll admit, I’ve never really splurged on an “investment bag” before… but honestly, even a $300 bag is an investment, right?! In those cases it always helps me to think about how often I’ll use it and how long it will last. Bonus points if it’s a timeless style that I’ll never get sick of!
Jewelry – I’m not a big jewelry person, but there are a few pieces that I absolutely LOVE and wear every single day. If you’re lusting after a piece in particular, break down the cost per wear… it might justify the price for you!
Beauty products – It took me a while to start spending real money on beauty products, but now that I have, I hope I never have to go back. The initial cost can be a shock, but there are a lot of products that last longer, are made with high quality ingredients, and are way better for your skin.

I’m loving these picks Lauren! A trench coat is a must for spring. Those are great to splurge on because that style is pretty timeless. Meanwhile, I have all the heart eyes for those blue loafers- how cute!
