Sunday Spotlights 1
Welcome to the first Sunday Spotlights post! Last week, I did a lot of brainstorming about how I can continue to post about important issues and celebrate diversity over here in a way that makes sense for the long term. As I said in my post on Monday, I don’t want to just create a few lists and move on – mostly because Black creators have likely already put that work in and deserve the credit! So, I came up with the idea for this Sunday Spotlights series instead.
Similarly to my weekly email blast, this is a place where I can share what I’m eating, watching, listening to, etc… along with calls to action, educational resources, and more. I’m really excited to have a place to share a wide variety of links every week, and I hope it keeps us all aware of important things going on in the world and what we can do to make them better… with some fun extras mixed in, too. Let’s dive in!

Sunday Spotlights 1
I’ve loved Real Good since the first week they opened in Old Town, and this week they announced that for every one of their Farm Boxes they sell, they will donate one to a household in a neighborhood without access – how awesome is that? (You can also get $10 off your box with code LAKESHORELADY)
The officers responsible for Breonna Taylor’s death still haven’t been arrested. Sign the Justice for Breonna petition here.
I will be living in this sweatshirt and these sweat shorts every morning for the rest of summer. (Pictured above!)
This caption is such a powerful example of how small shifts are important.
I finally got a dry brush and I really truly don’t know what took me so long. Not all wellness trends are affordable and easy, but this one is!
A follower of mine named Lindsey reached out to me this week and I am so inspired by her. After her husband was racially profiled by police in their own backyard in Lakeview, they have been fighting to get support for the Civilian Police Accountability Council (CPAC), which will create a democratically-elected council to oversee the Chicago Police Department. This is the first step in achieving safety and accountability for our black neighbors. They organized a protest on Friday that had an amazing turnout, and you can find more information how you can help push the needle on this on EndLakeviewRacism.com.
Love Lizzo’s message about body image!!
YES QUEEN!
I recently got this 3 pack of masks and I love that they are machine washable. Also, 10% of all sales will be donated to the ACLU!
Ashley from Everyday Pursuits is currently testing out Lashify lashes… and she has been able to keep them on for multiple days at a time! Sounds like an even better option than the magnetic lashes I’ve tried.
This episode of Brene Brown’s podcast with Austin Channing Brown was SO insightful. I love that they are friends in real life because the conversation felt so fluid and respectful, even when they talked about difficult things regarding race.
I made my friend Jamie’s One Pan Creamed Corn Orzo with Shrimp the other night and it’s so easy and so different for us! Definitely recommend if you love corn in the summer.
I love this print by Oh Happy Dani benefiting Be The Bridge. I think it would be so cute hanging in the kitchen!
This lemon loaf. OMG.
I took this yoga class with Aditi earlier this week and so many of the things she said have been sticking with me. (PS. I always share links to the fitness classes I take in my Sunday email blasts if you’re interested in subscribing!!)
This dress is so adorable and looks so much more expensive than it is!
While I’m getting a LOT out of anti-racism books (working through Me and White Supremacy now), I’m also SO excited about this list of romance novels by Black authors. Finding diverse authors within our favorite genres is such a good way to continue to read about different experiences long term.
Have you seen the trailer for Little Voice? I CAN’T WAIT!
